Would be nice if milo or Matrix games could set up a dedicated server or two to spark mp gaming while the game is still not too widely spread.

When the game gets mroe popular and the ones who have bought it have gotten into mp gaming they will start hosting their own servers. Until then we do need help to get things going.

Agreed, I think we'll do just that. Stay tuned...

That would be great [:)]

I think Starshatter players need to take some responsibility here, though. Starshatter is pretty much an "indie" game (that doesn't mean it isn't bloody good, of course). It will never have the marketing or sales of some multi-million game from Ubi or EA, and it would be unrealistic to expect to find large numbers online whenever you happen to fancy a game. The community needs to make the effort to get games organised, and turn up for them.

What it needs is a regular server (hopefully that will be a Matrix one, failing that a community one), and regular times and dates so that people know when to show up and find plenty of others. Probably mid/late Friday or Saturday evening East Coast time would be best - West Coasters will hopefully be home from work and us Euros can burn the post-midnight oil [:D] And maybe one somewhere on the West Coast (with appropriate times) for folks there and around the Pacific rim as well ?

BTW... such participation is unlikely to include myself at present - I get a complete system crash every time I click on the MP select button. I'll be posting in tech support next, if anybody has any ideas.

EDIT: Problem solved [:)] Firewall issues.

Hertston,

We all want to have Starshatter "make it big", but you're right that there's no multi-million dollar ad launch here, but it will still be a pretty big one for us. We're working hard to spread the word and make sure reviews and advertising fall into place, but keeping word of mouth going is the best thing the community can do.

Posting in other forums, putting up player reviews, talking to your friends and of course putting up a server and posting about its availability are all great things to help promote this game. The more folks that end up owning it and playing it online, the more fun everyone will have (not that the SP campaign doesn't kick ass, it does).

I have recently taken my secondary PC off FTP duty and will be using it as a dedicated Starshatter server from time to time when it's not rendering Electric Sheep.
Barring hosting anomolies it should be available soon.

Don't get me wrong, Erik, I wasn't criticising. I just thought it needed making clear that even if/when Starshatter is a big success for you players won't be able to log on and find hundreds or thousands online 24/7 as if it were Joint Ops or Call of Duty. People will need to make a bit of an effort to get good online games fixed up... that's all.
