Call for Sound Volunteers

Post by Erik Rutins »

Hi,

We worked with some of you to test the sound crashes. I'd like to ask again for volunteers to help us test the upcoming patch. We are still fixing and checking files, but I expect sometime this weekend or Monday that we'll be ready to give it a try. Please e-mail me at erikr@matrixgames.com if you are available and include the following information:

- Computer skills (novice, experienced, advanced)
- Processor, Memory, Operating System, Audio Card and Drivers, DirectX Version
- Did you try renaming the sound files listed above? Did it stop the crashes? If the crashes stopped, do you still hear distorted sounds during play?

Thanks in advance. I will try to pick a mix of cases to make sure we cover the sound issues.

Regards,

- Erik

RE: Call for Sound Volunteers

I've sent you an e-mail expressing my willingness to test. I participated in the last round, and I'll be available again this weekend if you'd like me to assist again.

To repeat some of what I said in my e-mail, I have an Intel D865PERL motherboard with onboard SoundMax sound (and updated drivers). Changing to NOSOUND works for me, as does renaming the files you flagged. (Except that I hear strange computer-like clicks, whistles and hisses during some bombing, and ground bombardment attacks sound like someone whacking trash cans.)

Anyway, I'm happy to try to help.
