Task Force listing, mis-labeled Escort missions

Post by dtravel »

In the Task Force listing ('t'), the "Escort" mission TFs show up as "Transport". [&:] Very confusing.

That is, technically, what they are....all the 'Ecsort TF' does is keep all the shipstogether after taking damage to a point where the damaged ships would split away in a normal 'Transport TF'.
There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion.

I have no problem with Escort missions showing up under the Transport filter the same way that ASW shows up under the Surface filter. My complaint is that it says 'Transport' in the second column of the listing. I've been using Escort missions to move ships damaged in air raids on the port they were in to a second port that is either a major repair yard or is hopefully out of range of enemy aircraft. I want to be able to find those so I can check up on them. Considering the number of true Transport missions thats not possible as long as Escort TFs are labelled Transport as well as filtered as such.

(I don't want to use Surface Combat because they are supposed to avoid contact. Which I don't get as a Retirement Allowed Surface Combat.)

Two different things here. One is Filtering the list. I have no problem with Escort missions getting Filtered into the Transport category.

The second is what I am reporting as a bug. That is the mission type listed in the second column of the Task Force listing. Create a TF and give it the Escort mission. Now, call up the Task Force listing, find that TF and tell me what mission type does the second column say it is on?

Basic problem is that Escort was a special "after the fact addition" long after all the normal stuff was done.

I'll see if Mike can fix the text to display Escort instead. Don't know if the rest of the code is there to allow it.
