An interesting tidbit about ground movement.

Post by moses »

It appears as though ground movement rates depends only on the hex you are in. I noticed this when I decided to move from a rail hex into a forest hex. The rail line was not going in the direction of the forest hex so I expected a long slog at 4 miles a day. The next day I found that not only had I entered the new hex but I had 30 miles to spare which I could apply to my next move in any direction. IT does not appear to matter when using roads or rail if they are going in the direction you are trying to move to. If there is a rail in the hex you move at the rail rate.

I've run several tests and it always seem to work this way.

Also depends on the fatigue of the unit doing the moving. Optimal movement rates are proportionally decreased by the amount of fatigue of the unit.
