Kudos to Matrix!! This is one of the greatest computer games of all time!

I finally started to get full enjoyment of it when I learned that the computer processing of a turn (about 5 minutes) had to be dealt with. I started -playying on 3 day turns, which allows for much unexpected mishaps of war (v. good for playing vs. AI) and means that the turns will take 15-20 minutes to be resolved. In the meantime I write up my AAR, browse the forums and research the Pacific war on the web. This has made playing the game perfect.

If you watch all the animations and let them play out, especially in the beginning of the grand campaign, turns can last that long.

My wife laughs at me. When I test I'm looking for results so I don't need to watch the turn usually just check something afterwards. For months (or has it been years?) my routine for cleaning, working around the house or anything was sit and give orders and then do stuff quickly while the turn runs. Then repeat. So I rarely timed how long the turns took as I was away.

But it is a great game. Easy to get so caught up in it that you forget to do other things.
