Starshatter Advertisements in Magazines?

Post by neveS »

Ok, this is probably an odd question but since i currently only subscribe to Game Developer magazine (yeah yeah, im a wanabe game developer too), i'm wondering if anyone here has seen a Starshatter ad in any major mag like PC Gamer or others?

Incidentally, ive only seen the starshatter banner on www.wargamer.com Then again, the sites i frequent these days have narrowed quite a bit over the years. I still visit shacknews.com alot and have never seen it there. Oh... and i think the starshatter banner is too dark. Dark ads (especially when displayed against dark background web pages) are easy to ignore. Make it brighter.

Even if the Matrix advertising budget would stretch to it, it seems a little foolish to pay for magazine ads (and I assume PC Gamer space comes expensive) for what is at present, a download-only product. I doubt Matrix would even consider it unless the game is on store shelves.

Matrix tend to target their advertising well, and one Starshatter ad in PC Gamer would probably cost more (and deliver fewer sales) than the dozen (?) for WitP, CotA, WaW etc they could place in "Armchair General" for the same money.

I've seen the ad-links on GoneGold.com, which is a great site for intelligent gamers to visit. People on the GoneGold forums are pimping the product as well. I'd say the targeted advertising is working well.

However, I would recommend using simhq.com and frugalsworld.com to get the word out. Those forums are frequented by hardcore simheads who think that the dynamic campaign is make/break for a sim's success. Those guys would go nuts over this.

Magazines ads are already placed. Matrix prefers to have the games out first then start the ads. Yes we know that is not the normal way [:'(] but since we do not need to worry at the moment for retail space it allows to make sure the ads make an impact. More banner ads are also on way. If any one has a great Sci-Fi site or a sim site please let us know. We search every day but you never know what we can miss.

Hard Light Productions has been doing a large amount of traffic this week, err... for some reason. [:'(]

Hmmm.. perhaps you need a new advertising slogan. "Forget FS3, Sharshatter's Smart free !!" [:D]
