Video Problem?

Post by thunder1967 »

Loaded witp and have loaded both patches. Have also loaded Directx9.0b with no luck. I am on a Pentium III laptop. Any ideas? The screen shot shows what I see when I load any of the scenarios

I've seen UV do that with the big scen's on occasion after playing a long while. I would check your video drivers and ensure they're updated. Dx is important, but check the hardware drivers too. Might have something out of date that an update will speed up. Cause I THINK this is some sort of system lag where an older screen is partially left up when a new one is loaded...

FWIW, I see the exact same thing unless I start the game from a fresh reboot. If I do anything else that uses 3d (other game, etc) then I see exactly that.

Win2k
1 gig RAM
GF4 5200 128 mb video
DX 9.0b
Nvidia 56.72 drivers

The game is shelved until I find an answer.

I've seen this only when I alt-Tab Witp and run other programs, then jump back to Witp. If it works from a fresh reboot, my guess is something else is eating up your memory? Try to reduce the number of other things running on your computer (all those little things in your task bar)!

I have the same video card, same drivers, less RAM and running XP (on a 500 MHz) and I have no problems except when I alt-tab out and that clears right up as soon as you change the screen. I'm thinking it has something to do with Win 2k..

Nah, I've got Win XP home edition and it happens on occasion with UV. I'll need to test it and see if the same thing happens on WiTP. Nuisance for me really when its happened because I rarely leave the game when I play until I'm done for the session... It is an odd one.

I never alt-tab out of the game, and yet I still get those graphics every time, unless I've just booted. It's strange that UV would work just fine for me on Win2k but WiTP doesn't - unless it's beefed up that much more. Yet, CoD, Far Cry and other intense 3d games run fine for me. [&:]
