PBEM Grudge Match: Denisonh vs Sonny (SC#15)

Post by denisonh »

Good advice:

Start a game against the AI to get the feel
Play a small scenario PBEM to get the feel

Not advised:

First game a SC#15 PBEM

What do myself and Sonny do? SC#15 PBEM of course![X(]

Much like how myself and Sonny started a campaign in UV shortly after UV was published, we are starting a PBEM right out of the gate.

Our UV PBEM went through Apr 43, and was a bloody, well fought match (with me winning as the Allies).

Now Sonny has his opportunity for revenge.

With a historical first turn, and waiting for a couple of days before forging a real strategy for the Allies, the IJN has a good head start.

A good PH outcome on Dec 7, with a good second day at PH as well, I am hurting. Not due to BBs lost (Arizona, West Virginia, and California) but all the PBYs destroyed on the ground.

Lost Wake the first day and chaos rules in the Phllippines.

By 12 Dec, should have an initial plan.

Dec 8th, 1941

The "second day" at PH sees the California got to the bottom, and serious damage to the Oklahoma, Maryland and Minneapolis.

The Nevada, Tennessee, San Francisco, and Honolulu with moderate damage. The New Orleans and Pennsylvannia are minorly damaged.

Looks like he has decided to stick around. Luckily my ASW TFs did not get targetted by the KB. Appears that he is moving NW to either leave or refuel. Will try to evacuate some of the moderately damaged ships with no float damage and retain some speed in case the KB comes back. BBs still have too much float damage to move.

The San Franciso, Honolulu, Helena, St Louis, Tucker and 4 escorting DDs head for San Francisco.

Expect Halsey and Brown to link up tomorrow.

As my ships begin fleeing the Phllipines, he caught a couple of AKs taking a shortcut through Legaspi. Quickly sank them.

Many bases changed hands today.

Good going Den, soon you will have him overextended and can counter attack. About 18 months from now. [:D]

I hope for your and sonnys sake, they do not change the data base format. [8D]

- Central Pacific
Sending the CV Saratoga, CL Concord and 2 DDs to PH via a southern route, as the KB may be lurking north of PH.

Sending Indianapolis, Phoenix, Raleigh and 3 DDs towards Palmyra to link up with the Pensacola for operations in and around the Marshalls (as long as the KB does not show up).

10 Dec, 1941

- Central Pacific
Am sending a replenishment TF out of PH with the Neosho and two DDs to link up with Halsey and obviate the need to come in to PH with the KB and tons of enemy subs lurking in the area.

Also formed the Nevada, Tennessee, Minneapolis, Jarvis and 4 DDs into a TF to move to San Francisco.

Dispatching the Pensacola and the 3 DDs from Palmyra to cover Tarawa against anticipated IJN landings.

- ANZAC/South Pacific/SW PAcific

- USAFFE
More casualties in the Phillipines, as IJN surface TFs are wandering the waters looking for easy prey.
Have set up "shop" with transferred air groups from Clark and Cagayan at Davao.

- ABDA
The Houston and Boise with some accompanying DDs have linked up at Tarakan are moving into position to cover the retreat of the bulk of the shipping that has successfully fled the PI.

- Southeast Asia
Also sending a TF to evacuate [censored]. Have weather and Fighters to cover loading.

11 Dec, 1941

- Central Pacific
The KB appeared north of PH. Showed up 300 miles from the San Francisco's TF. Broke the San Franciscoso's TF into three pieces, set to full speed and set to flee south east. The Escort TF with the Nevada and Tennesse will turn back to PH at Full speed. It appears he is searching the seas between the US and PH for damaged ships in transit to the states. Routing the Saratoga even farther south enroute to PH. Looks like an additional TF has shown up to the KB. Not sure what or why it is here. I plan to migrate the CVs towards Midway and possibly catch his TKs somewhere north of there if he pursues my TFs running away SE.

Remaining combatants with the Neosho's replenishment TF move out of PH and will link up with Halsey north of Johnston I. Have also sent out PBYs to Midway and Johnston to have LB search of the area around my CVs.

Have tranferred the 39th BG (B-17s) from Seattle to PH to give PH some long range search capability and possibly some "punch".

A TF with an AD, AS, AR, AV, 2 DDs and 2 DMS is sent from PH to [censored]o to establish an operational anchorage in the South Pacific.

Resupply TF from San Francisco for PH leaves tomorrow, although it will now detour south. Several convoys enroute to the south Pacific and Australia leave tomorrow with fuel, supplies, oil, troops, and air units. All will detour south to avoid problems with the KB.

- ANZAC/South Pacific/SW PAcific
The Louisville, Achilles and Leander should all make Brisbane tomorrow. They will form up with the Canberra, Perth and 2 DDs and head to Shortlands. They will attempt to harass IJN efforts to take Rabaul and bases along NG.

- USAFFE
The 4 AKs and 1 TK from Naga are fleeing across the Pacific for PH. Kinda funny, as the two that tried for NEI were sunk by forces west of the PI.

The Japanese forces at Naga were suprised to find the forces there were dug in and not retreating. Got a bloody nose :)

Migrating remnants of the US fighter sqns from Clark Field to Australia. Leaving the B-17 groups and 3rd FS at Davao.

- ABDA
Two Dutch CLs with 4 DDs joined the Houston, Boise and Marblehead at Tarakan. Those two TFs will operate around the Celebes Sea to disrupt IJN operations in the area.

Three more Dutch CLs and 4 DDs are at Batavia in preparation for ops along the north coast of Boreo.

The three British DDs that escpaped Hong Kong made Balikapapan, and will head to Singapore.

Currently evacuating selected Dutch base units to Austrlia, to strengthen Australian defenses.

- Southeast Asia
Doh! Forgot to give orders to Task Force Z, and the PoW took 3 torps at Singapore! Looks like she will sit at Singapore and work off some damage before withdrawing her, as she has too much damage to stick around in the area.

Here compadres will move up the coast looking for some trouble.

TF from Karachi with 18,000 suppplies for Rangoon should be departing tomorrow. Currently running transports to Karachi to pick up supply. Plan to stockpile forward at Trincomalee/Colombo.

If you can catch his carriers after his planes are wore out, and either sink them or wear them out so they can't back up seizures in the DEI, you can end the war in six months. Tally go!

Could that other TF be some AOs? KB must be getting a bit low on fuel. [;)]

Negative, I believe it is a portion of the KB split off, or a TF out of Tokyo that got here using the first turn "jump".

No spots on TK, APs or anything that would lead me to beleive it is his TKs.

12 Dec, 1941

- Central Pacific
The KB is still haunting the waters north of PH. Planning to move Halsey somewhere south of Midway to possibly strike the IJN TKs needed to sustain this CV force this far east.

The Indianapolis TF will move from Palmyra to rendevous with the Pensacola near Tarawa.

A Jap sub came close to the lady Lex. Got lucky I'd say.

- ANZAC/South Pacific/SW PAcific
The TF departs out of Brisbane for Rabaul/Shortland tomorrow.

- USAFFE
Japanese landing at Cagayan. Trying to evacuate as many B-17s as I can before it falls.
I will try to get S-40s damage sitauation under control before sending her south.

- ABDA

- Southeast Asia
PoW took a bomb hit in port at Singapore. Geting worse, so need to move her.

Damn! Jap LBA plastered the Repulse and company. Since Singapore is no longer safe, they will limp back to Palembang and on to Batavia before evacuating.
