we ought to try sneaking in some jump ports in there, just so it can be air dropped and cause some terror.

Changed chassis to H2, significant armor reduction due to 87mm limit, CT changed to Dullaroy, more AP loss to legs (to fit in the Jump Ports, but it was changed to Millenia. -1 LS, -1 BC, slight heat dissipation improvement(-0.24C/sec). Swapped one of the TB with the Engine btw. The other torso still with the TB had the Flares so it evens out using 5 slots. Added Jump Port 4.

I temporarily named it as Eveningstar, just so I can compare in playtesting...

Meh, a bit too much AP and Systems loss, IMHO, but it was worth a try.

hehe, I did that with the Bonecrusher once.. then it airdropped on me and I changed it back[:D] Well that and they were small ports so it wasn't worth the wieght.

Eveningstar.. like the idea, but just too much AP lost in the legs for my taste due to the design intent (lots of armor so it make it in close for up close and personal destruction). But if you could find a way to keep the legs in the 50's.....

Okay, let's try that again.

Changes made relative to your mod of the Morningstar.

-Changed Chassis to H1
-Swapped locations of Engine 6 with one of the TB
-Flare -1
-Scanner +1
-Added Jump 6
-Armor is reduced by 5 in all locations except HD and CBT
-HD armor reduced by 2 AP due to HMAX limit of chassis1
-CBT armor reduced by 2 AP

With this set up, it will need a wee bit less armor because it can close in a lot faster, and it can do DfA

Ok, threw it together, now I can't make up my mind...

what's everyone else think... I'm sorta worried about heat in either version....

could go this route, chassis1, HR10 (-0.69C/sec improvement), engine 5 and JJ4, some extra armor over the engine... but now the engine is cutting even more corners.. but then agian.. it still can't handle the heat in CC with everything going (but the build-up is alot slower).. or you can cut the armor over the engine back to 50APs and up the scanner by 1 and improve heat by -0.02C/sec[8|]

Haha, that's sorta what my original layout looked like before I changed it to a Jump 6. There's just too much designer calls on this thing. It would really depend on the playing style.

The way I use this is to sneak around out of LoS and try to get at least 4 hexes near any enemy titan. Jumping towards it would take around 43 seconds (3? seconds jump up, 10 seconds for each hex). Try to scan while jumping. Going at 120 kph it should be pretty hard to hit and that should take care of the defenses. Upon reaching the target's hex. Let out a single TB if chance to hit is greater than 50%. DfA and hope it doesn't fall down. let out second TB, then chainsaws. With more than 100 points worth of damage done, hopefully that takes care of any target in one go. I play tested it as a solo titan and managed to get a TB to the targets head while jumping down, scattered DfA hits that knocked the target down, landed well. Chainsaw. Wait on heat green. CS, TB. Target's jock ejects. Battle ended within 50 minutes of spotting the enemy. [:D] That would be just awful if one were to be on the receiving end...

Edit:

AI playtesting, it doesn't use the Jump ports much (it choses to go dodge rather than jump) but it's still pretty effective given favourable terrain . Hopefully that's changed in 1.2

Personally, I like the nice cool versions. But the designer's intent was for very heavy armor (a perfectly viable choice) so I've very hesitant to reduce the armor this much. Want to keep the different playstyles and design stratagies represented if possible...
