Ship not accelerating

I'm having a problem with my ship not accelerating. The joystick seems to be working, and the throttle goes up when I use the default "A" key and the button I mapped to my controller (Gravis Eliminator), but the speed remains at 0. This occurs even when I activate autopilot. Any suggestions for what is happening or how to fix it? This occured in both 4.0.0 and the new patched version. Thanks

Check your EMCON level.

In the lower left MFD, there should be a readout for EMCON level, right above the SYSTEM readout. The normal combat setting is EMCON 3. If you are at EMCON 1 (silent running), your engines and energy weapons are disabled. Use the F9 and F10 keys to adjust EMCON settings in the game.

I had this same problem. It seems that my new wireless keyboard had a flaky F9 or F10 key and it was changing the EMCON level and draining my power. I tapped the key a few times and it seems to have become unstuck or unflaky and now it works fine.

Yes, that was it. I also have a wireless keyboard and there is something to the F9 problem. Tapping it a few times in game helped resolve it. Thank you!

I have played Wing Commander IV and for some reason throttle goes to 0 time to time. I don't have wireless keyboard and same hasn't happened with other games... Off topic but thoughts?
