American CA banzai charges

Post by kokubokan25 »

I'm playing with the japs vs AI. Some turns ago, in the first days of may/1942 my Mavis flying from Truk spotted american AP's and many DD going to Lunga. Intelligence supose a amphibious operation against Guadalcanal.
I cannot prevent the allies intentions with my planes from Rabaul. In a few days a new operation is planed from Truk. With a HUGE TF with almost 30.000 troops aboard with the shelter of 8 CV's (all my avaible carriers) i was taken Lunga without problem and repelled the garrison to Tassafaronga.
However, this operation has suposed a INCREDIBLE AI reaction. The Americans has sending TF's after TF's with NO AIR SUPPORT (ANY although AI has 4 CV's to our disposal) to re-take Lunga. My carriers destroy day after day enemy ships with no oposition (except FLAK). En a week going to bottom six o seven CA/CL and maybe 30-35 AK, AP, TK, DD. With this ships also going to hell the 2nd Marine Division, the 8 NZ Division and some ENG units. The AI continues this foul charging against Lunga with my carriers forced to return to Truk to resuply torps, bombs and fuel.
Is so important Lunga for the AI player??? This is a bug??
The last turn (5/22/42) was really X-Files! The AI send a TF with the BB's Colorado and Ockahoma to bombard Lunga, again without air support. The two ships are now in the bottom of Coral Sea and your DD's escort run for safe to Noumea.

The AI has a target fixation problem, apparently. [:(]

The AI in UV had the same problem. You would occupy Lunga, and the Americans would sail tiny task forces up to get you. My favorite was the two AOs with a PG escort trying to retake Lunga.

This is why it's only going to PBEM for me.

In reply to Esteban (maybe you are a spanish recruit?)

In the first days of june/42 the Americans stop to send the CA/AP banzai charges. At the present moment in this play i never see yet the American CV's, maybe the AI reserves to some special operation. However the AI continues send isolated TF with AK/TK without escort to some bases in DEI and Phillipines. Is strange, the last position in PHI, Jolo, was taken by me a month ago. Anyway my Betty's sunk almost all this ships in your crazy run to death.
