Sound Problem

Post by piratemonkey »

Whenever I play the game, after 5-10 minutes of play, the audio of the game cuts out completely. The game continues to play fine, just without sound. Deosn't matter whether is a new game, loaded game etc...

If I exit the game and then restart everything is fine for another 5-10 minutes.

My Specs:
Windows 2000
Athlon XP 1.2ghz
256MB ram (need more, I know)
Sound Blaster Audigy

I've checked the errorlog and nothing seems out of the ordinary. In fact if I continue playing into another mission, it appears to be loading the next music track as normal. Its as if the volume just drops to 0 across the board.

Any ideas?

Yeah, basically the sound would stutter a bit and have lots of popping noises and such, then cut out when a music track finished playing. I turned my sound acceleration down a notch and it so far appears to have solved the problem. There still seems to be a tad of static in some instances, but I just played for 15 minutes and didn't have any problems with popping, stuttering music, or sound cutting out. Hope this fixes it.

One other game had some funky stuff with sounds. Using DXDiag software I turned sound hardware acceleration off and it worked. No problems with Starshatter though (3.7.6-3.9.0).
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.
