New patch after WITPC ? Pilot management system

Post by Stelteck »

Uncommon valour is a very good game, i love it very much and play a lot by PBEM, but he have a quite perfectible pilot management system.

For example, in one of my game, scenar 17, i'am japanese in april 1943.

Problem : Lack of good pilot....

Ok, realistic problem, but when i see, for example, a marvis squad, with 70 pilots !!!!! (for only 12 planes max).

It is not so realistic.

Worse, 70 pilots, it is 50 excellent pilots and 20 very bads....

Of course, the worst pilots are the pilots used to fly air reconnaissance missions, and i have a lots of operationnal damages.

I NEED THESE PILOTS ELSEWHERE !!! HELP !!!

Could we hope a patch, after the release of WITPC, that will correct the problem for Uncommon valour either ?

WITPC will be probably too big for me, to play it by PBEM.

Stelteck.

That is a known bug which they never managed to squash.

There is a way around it. Look in the FAQ (see top of this forum, or go straight to [:)] Spooky's Site [:)]). If I tried to repeat it here I'd screw it up.

This way around does not always work for me and I see my replacement pilot quality go down with each new pilot coming especially with Australians .
And I have a lot of them in some Catalina groups and with bombers .

I really hope this BUG will get patched with a final update for UV

I'm betting there will not be any further patches of UV.

Well, Matrix Games said there would be another patch. I hope that they will at least put out a patch that will fix the bugs left in the game. I am not that interested in them adding any new features, just clear the bug list. [:)]

Well, dont hold your breath, I think they've got their hands full with patching up WITP for the time being. They have stated that they'll retrofit some the features into UV, like, fx, TCG's being able to pickup, as well as deliver, units, something I remember requesting aged ago (they musta listen'd [8D])
Where's the Any key?

Priority should be set on removing the BUGs as they sometimes hamper Gameplay very seriously especially with the many Jap pilots sitting in a Mavis/Emily or waiting for them to fly with .

I don't know if this is a common thing or not.

I started a game against the AI in the Scen 19 modified I got from Spookys site. On the first turn I examined my 4 CVs and found each was up to full complement with 36 fighters , 36 dive bombers and 12-15 torpedo bombers. The fighter squadrons were short a few pilots but they all had hi 70s-low 80s experience. I set everybody on rest. A couple of turns later I looked at the airgroups to see how they were recovering:

AAAAARGGG!!!!!! VF-6 now has 36 pilots with average experience of 38......I don't remember any problems with the other VFs though.

Meanwhile a sub pickles the Akagi in the lower Solomons. My CVs (less Enterprise (and VF-6)) put to sea and head to the area NE of Luganville.
VF-6 begins a crash training program (70% regardless of weather). After a couple of turns experience is up to 52. Meanwhile the Jap CVs move South of G-canal. I decide to sail Enterpriseto join up with my other CVs and have a CV battle just to see how things go. Everything goes according to plan, they rendezvous and the Jap CVs are still hanging around so I order my CVs forward to engage. Just before clicking end turn I examine my fighter squadrons. VF6 is a miserable 56 experience and now VF8 is around the same as VF6. LAST TIME I LOOKED, (the turn I sailed) VF8 HAD AN EXPERIENCE OF 78.

Now I haven't done a count or anything but up to this point I was pleased with how fast my Army squadrons seemed to be filling out their rosters but now it begins to look like the Navy pilots were tossed into the pool and then parcelled out to the Army squadrons.

Anybody else see something happen like this?

Anybody know how to keep it from happening?
