After spending 8 hours planning my most ambitious invasion plan yet, I figured I would post an AAR for everyones amusment.
I am playing as the IJN against the AI (waiting on the patch for PBEM)

In my infinate wisdom I have ordered a streamlining of my a/c production. A few officers objected to my order and were put to death. I have decreed that armament production must be heavily increased. I have made very little HI increases at this time.
I have decreed that the CV Shinano is a waste of resources and halted construction.
My goals are simple: Secure the much needed resources, Destroy the enemy whereever
they may hide.
I have decreed that the DEI, PI and Malaya must be secured by the end of Dec 41 and no later than 15 Jan 1942. My plan is ambitious and daring, but I have no doubt that my forces, led with my brilliance, will be victorious in our endevours.

KB will sail for PH and destroy the US Pacific Fleet with the goal of forcing the weak Americans to see the folly of resisting the might of the IJN.
In Burma, a mighty army has assembled and is ready to advance when hostilities commence.
In China, several mighty armies have assembled and will launch a offensive when all is ready. I have ordered several units to be transported to China as garrison forces. Once that is complete it will free up 4 divisions of troops by day 3 followed by 2 more divisions hopefully by the end of the week.

Have had some set backs. All bases have been secured except for Palembang, Kendari,
Samarinda and Kuching. The Dutch in Palembang threw back the first assualt, but made the mistake of Launching a deliberate attack against my forces. Do not know what they thought they could do against the entire 21st Ind Brigade, but it should fall on the 9th.
I fear all of the fighting at Palembang will destroy my booty I am fighting for.
Kuching, I waited until the entire 35th brigade was unloaded, but since the Dutch were so nice too also launch a counterattack I will oblige them in kind.
All of my forces are now ashore at Kendari and will be launching their attack today, I expect victory.
Samarinda has been delayed until the 10th. My staff neglected to tell me my forces could not arrive before then. I will have to discipline them severly. I expect the landings to go smoothly without delay. Once Samarinda is captured (and it is alot of units) I will be able to sweep up and down the coast and capture Tarakan and Balikapan from the shore and avoid the beaches.
My forces in China are still preparing for their attack. Changsha will be attacked on the 10th also. My freed up divisions in the first batch are onthe move now.
Burma has been quiet so far, but things are progressing smoothly. My forces are rapidly closing on their objectives.
The dirty American CV Enterprise bushwacked KB on the return voyage today. She paid for that mistake by eating 16 bombs and 9 torps. KB also savaged her escorts.
Unfortunatly Enterprises dive bombers (6 to be exact) managed to score to hits on Akagi.
The attack occured outside of French Shoals. Akagi has 34 sys, 14 fire and 17 float damage. I fear for her safety.
All bases with resources or oil were captured almost intact due to the swift and deadly assualts. The worst hit was Tobali with 152 resources damaged, but I believe she is still producing 748 per turn. All others are under 5% damage.

Cool, a carrier battle after Pearl Harbor. Haven't seen too many of those yet, though I'm sure we'll see more in PBEM games. 
So by grabbing Palembang, do you hope to start taking oil out immediately, or is the Dutch LBA too dangerous for that still?

Basically the Dutch air and Singapore are to dangerous to convoy it out immediately. By taking it fast I
hope to allow the resources and oil to stockpile. That way when Singapore falls there will be a massive stockpile
close by to dump oil and resource into. I have started moving large numbers of tankers and cargo ship into
Cham Rahn Bay as a pre-staging base.
Also in Palembang I send in a base force to begin repairs of port and runway. I will fly in extra engineers
to begin increasing port size of Palembang and Tobali. Need the bigger port to load then ships quicker.
Also another reason is those same two bases not only produce resources, but also supplies, giving
me a close place for supplies.
