Question on Patches for UV

Post by GI Tom »

Hi all, newbie here to UV. I'm an HttR player and decided to expand my horizons and put some time into the Pac Theatre. I originally wanted to purchase WitP, but I read some posts about playing UV first to bone up before getting that, which is exactly what I'm going to do. [:)]

With that being said, here's my question: I read the patch information on the site, and it appears I actually have to patch 4 times? Before I do that, I wanted to make sure that was correct. In other words, I can't just D/L the latest patch and that picks up everything according to the instructions. I just found it odd that I would actually have to do the patch process 4 times. I'm not dumb, but I'm not smart either. [;)]

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You have to download the 4 patches and then install them in consecutive order: 2.10 then 2.11 then 2.2 then 2.3. Mucks things up very nicely if you dont do it that way.

Hi,

If you've just recently purchased the game -- (double)check [;)] the version number on the main selection screen. There is a good chance you're already at version 2.30 and installing the patches unnecessarily will cause you no end of grief. [:(]

Correct, all the new games should be version 2.30 already

Thanks all. I had purchased the game (the older boxed version) off of ebay, so it was indeed version 1. I'm all patched up now, appreciate the help.

GI Tom,

When you patched, did start at 2.00 or 2.10? If 2.00 then no worrys, if you started with 2.10 then all of the fixes in patches from 1.10 to 2.00 will not be there. To go from version 1.0 to 2.30 of UV you need to install the 2.00 (it has all of the 1.xx patch fixes in it) then 2.10 then 2.11 then 2.20 then (finally) 2.30 patches.

tanjman,

I did indded start with patch 2.0 and did all the ones after. Thanks.

Also, I see your a Planowner for DD-984? I spent a few years (87-90) on DD-970, USS Caron. Then I transferred into the Seabees. While in the fleet, I was a Snipe (EN). Good to see some ex-Navy around. [:D]
