Milo-Request: Ships vissible when docked.

Hey milo.

Both me and damocles could use ships that are visible when they are docked. Would this be hard for you to implement in a patch?

A while back I started to write some code to deal with "docking rings". These were going to be like external landing bays, except that docked ships wouldn't disappear when they were hooked up. I wanted to have some missions where you see landing craft attached to freighters, or you would have to protect a freighter until a landing craft could arrive, latch on, take on cargo or passengers, and then cut loose.

That feature got pushed (to the sequel?) due to problems with the physics engine. When one ship is docked to another, the two ships would have to move as one unit, with the combined mass of the two ships. The docked ship would presumably be exposed to damage effects, etc. etc.

The existing physics loop just isn't quite up to that, and I do want to finish this game so you can all play it at some point, you know?

Perhaps there wont be a sequel but a gradual progression through patches and expansion packs. Huh, huh? [:D]
Hopefully at some point SS will get this improved physics engine that milo wants to write.

That is my guess: patches up to 4.9.9 and then new game on box with version 5.0.0.
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.
