3 major TF's left two days ago from PH to relieve SF. 1 air TF under Halsey, a cruiser TF under Newton and this TF, the main surface TF under Spruance, his flag in the battleship Nevada....(the most lightly damaged BB from the PH attack and the only one deemed fit enough to continue the fight)

Saratoga waits to sortie from San Diego and the battleship Colorado has 4 hour steaming notice in Puget Sound. Meanwhile air reinforcements continue to pour into the airfields around SF.

Forever to be known as the "air-battle of San Francisco. Despite the near complete green-ness of the flight crews. They bravely went out to attack the invading fleet. They paid a heavy heavy price....but took away many Zeros and their famed pilots with them. KB is intact....but it's defenses are now extremely weakened!

I presume that the AI is playing the Allies - otherwise why in the world are the US LBA trying to bomb ships from 15,000 ft? They won't hit squat from that altitude, particularly in 1941. Now, from 6,000 feet, they will cause some serious damage, even with little experience.

Admiral Nagumo regrets to inform the Banana that KB can no longer cover the invasion fleet anchoring and patroling off San Francisco due to heavy fighter losses suffered during the great air-battle of San Francisco. Nagumo is concerned that the missing USN carriers (whose location remains unknown at this time) might show up and most horde his remaining fighter strength to deflect any blows from that direction. CVL Zuiho has joined up with KB and her fighter group is a welcoming sight.

Nagumo must also regretfully inform the Banana that the CVL Ryujo was scuttled today after suffering further damage from maurauding level bombers. Two more AP's have sunk and two CS's are crippled and retiring. the Japanese Expeditionary Force is currently holding their bridgehead near SF proper and are beating off repeated counterattacks by Yankee troops. They await the arrival of the last contingent of the force and then they will go onto the offensive (5th and 18th Divisions)

Good and (really) bad results for the US today. On the bad side......an attempt to sneak in a small TF centered around the battleship Colorado was destroyed today by a Japanese surface force led by the CL Sendai. It was hoped that any battles would be fought by day, thus minimizing the threat of Japanese torpedoes (which somehow the Allied commander knows about..... [:D] ) but it was not to be.

Though the battlewagon landed a 16inch hit on the Sendai.....the ship itself was struck by 3 torpedoes and suffered a massive explosion. She sank soon afterwards, pummled the whole time by small caliber fire.

On the + side.....USAAF and Marine forces are pummeling away at the vulnerable merchants all huddling in SF harbor. Major damage is being melted out. Japanese commanders are screaming for Nagumo to cover them with fighters but Nagumo is adamant......he must preserve his remaining fighters in case any carriers show up. Air attacks requested on the airfields around SF have been denied as well. Nagumo is also keeping a wary eye on his aviation gas levels......the four big carriers are doing ok....but Hiryu and Soryu are half empty. Only a direct order from the banana will force his hand. He can almost feel those US carriers nearby but so far no searches have come up.

The Banana has announced a major victory for KB......the virtual destruction of American carrier power in the Pacific!!!!!
Losses were heavy but thats no problem.....its going to be a short war anyway! None of our glorious carriers are badly hurt !!!!!

US leaders admitted to there having been a massive carrier air battle SW of San Francisco. Enemy plane losses were massive in the extreme and two carriers were reported hit and knocked out. In exchange two US carriers were sunk. Balancing this somewhat are the continuing heavy damages and losses being suffered by the enemy invasion force. a CL has been crippled and scuttled two more battleships were hit and set on fire. Two more US INF divisions have arrived in SF and are preparing for a grand offensive to cut off the invaders from their beachhead supply sources.

actual losses. KB's fighter strength has been gutted for the most part. Nagumo only has 43 A6M2's remaining (not all operational) and 9 A6M4 fighters. The flagship Akagi's ENTIRE A6M group has been wiped out and the Kaga only has 3 surviving A6M's aboard.

Bad news on the US Carriers.[X(] The US CV`s still launching those several tiny strike packages I see[:(]

As I suspected from a quick look at the stats with the editor looks like no Midway`s in the cards for the US in WITP.

The chances for a "midway" would be infintesimal even if it were modeled. As for this little AAR.....I had Nagumo sitting there waiting for the US carriers to show up. The slaughter over KB was my doing in part.......i set most of my fighters to CAP, hoping that the severe drain on KB A6M2's would allow the bombers to get through with a smaller escort. Guess not.

But the other reason, costly as it might be was that i figured KB (with 2-3x my ship killing potential) would win the conflict. I wanted to make it as costly a "victory" as possible and in that sense i succeeded. KB "plane wise" is a mess. 3/4 of the Zeros are gone and the Val and Kate airgroups are decimated. They are not strong enough nor have enough AvGas to try to bully through SF's air defences. This turn just proved that.

KB had some more fun....but at the cost of the flagship being knocked out. Nagumo is shaken up but uninjured and has transfered to the Zuikaku. That carrier and Hiryu have moderate damage now but are still in the fight. KB is now down to a total of 185 planes.
