Willing and able to help someone.
Here's my situation: I've made numerous successful .def files for missions, ships, and weapons. I know about as much about the basics of modding Starshatter as anyone else here. I've made dozens of models, but most of them I never finished, mostly because I lost interest and went onto a new one. I've had some minimal success at texturing using the gimp for making images and I'm just starting to figure out lithunrap for texing the more confusing ones, but don't ask me for images of a fully textured, fully working ship ingame because I've never made one. I haven't bought the game yet because I'm holding out for a boxed version.
I've come to the realization that it isn't that I'm talentless or anything, but that I never finish a ship, much less start my own mod project, because I lack direction. I can design ships, make missions, think up universes for any tech situation, I'm a fairly decent writer on the rare occasions that I bother, but I just don't care enough to be DamoclesX, if you get my meaning. However, if you give me a project to work on, and let me know others are depending on me somewhat, I can usually get my rear in gear and actually produce something.
So, anyone with a mod going need me to do something?

Yes please! You could code in turrets for Corellian Corvette. I mean if you know how to do it. I have got turret base and barrels out off the ship and you just need code them in and remove extra texture files. I zip files and e-mail you later today. And don't forget add comments.ORIGINAL: Lord QDaan

Ah, I'm glad I stayed up late today. That should be no problem. E-mail me at abolte@NOSPAMandrew.cmu.edu (remove the obvious). Were we just doing the standard two double turrets, or also the Tantive IV's 4 single turrets? The ones mounted on the dorsal escape pods, I mean. If we're doing the single turrets, are those single-part or double? It isn't clear in the movie or any of the stills AFAIK.

Standard Corellian Corvette has 2 turbolasers ONLY. Some modifications might replace turbolasers with antifighter lasers. As far as I know, escape pods don't have lasers. Ship model is from game X-Wing Alliance demo. And as I said:ORIGINAL: Lord QDaan

And that mean barrels and base are separate. You might need rotate models to get their facing rigth.I have got turret base and barrels out off the ship

MK: I think you may have misunderstood me, but it doesn't really matter. Obviously we're only doing two turrets here, which I should probably have done late tonight if no one else needs the computer, or I don't fall asleep. And just far anyone's info, the Tantive IV's dorsal escape pods did have lasers or very light turbolasers (not sure), as per OT-ICS and other sources, not to mention the prescence of fairly obvious turrets, but that was because it was modified to be a blockade runner. I'm not certain whether the escape pods themselves were modified, or they just bought some weirdo extra-expensive pods from CEC with all the components and power hookups pre-installed.
Pheagey: Well, we'll just have to see, I'm afraid. That's not something I've tried before. I guess if I were to choose the first thing I'd do, I might be able to write up a short one on making two-part turrets and placing them on a ship, using what I'm doing for MK as an example, unless he wants the .defs private for his mod.

QDaan, you are welcome to share your wisdom as you like. I have sent you files, so check out your e-mail box.
Another note about Corvette: In TIE Fighter game (and probably also in other games) is Modified Corvette which has more than 2 turbolaser turrets across the hull. It has slightly more length and different engine housing. Difference is less noticeable than comparison of Nebulon B Escort Frigate and Nebulon B2 Modified Frigate, but it definitely is not same class as Tantive IV.

RE: Willing and able to help someone.
I own X-Wing, XvT, and XWA, and have a copy of TIE Fighter, and I spend an unhealthy portion of my time discussing technical aspects of Star Wars. I have some clue here, sorry if I didn't make that clear.
I'm trying to figure something out here: are you arguing that the Tantive IV did not have 6 turrets? I mean, obviously no typical CR-90 has more than 2, but that particular ship was slightly modified, not heavily retrofitted (possibly an entire redesign with separate production, and just called modified, that is an ENTIRELY different looking ship) as in the Assassin-class Corvette that I believe you're referring to.
Anyhow, I got the the two turrets in their proper places on the hull, more or less, but I've run into a few problems. One is that group 1 guns don't go into def mode automatically, so the AI misuses them and you get some odd behaviour from your own end. I think I can fix that with a dummy weapons system. Two is that, as far as I can tell, none of the AIM parameters work in 3.8.8 at all. I just can't get anything out of them. No matter what I input, they aim wherever the hell they want to. The last problem is that I can't figue out how to keep the barrels of the turrets lined up with the base. They always aim in the right direction, but they twist in such a way that you sometimes end up with them aranged vertically rather than horizontally on the turret base.

RE: Willing and able to help someone.
Originally I was referring to ship I had send to you: standard mass produced CRV Corellian Corvette from XWA game. Then you started talk about Tantive IV and I don't know much about it. Finally I mentioned M/CRV Modified Corvette which was in TIE Fighter game.ORIGINAL: Lord QDaan

Turbolasers are not defensive weapons. Get man and auto work and we'll see then. One is that group 1 guns don't go into def mode automatically, so the AI misuses them and you get some odd behaviour from your own end.
Try 3.9.0. My goal is to get mod work on it.none of the AIM parameters work in 3.8.8 at all.
I leave my personal computer tomorrow (thursday) and I won't be back to it until september. My father has Win98SE and FAT32 system so I can't install 3.9.0 to it. I'm around at least 28 hours and you have that much time to send your work to me. I can wait to september though.
