Yeah, you can buy whatever you want for your core forces, but I personally make myself stay with the original oob. Otherwise, I would play as the Japs and buy King Tigers to kill Marines with. Could be fun, though. Or maybe I would play as the Marines and buy King Tigers.
<grin> no 90mm (76mm is the biggest avialible) I guess because of the year the campaign starts on. No Hellcats either, just Tiger tank fodder.
That brings up another question... when you left click on units you've already bought that specific element is removed. For instance if you buy a platoon of engineers and left click the second squad you get a leader, and two squads (might be using incorrect lingo) if you do this and add another group of units (say a Platoon of normal rifle inf.) the rifle inf. will intermix with the engineers in an odd way, giving you something laid out like this:
US HQ
Engineer (leader unit?)
Engineer
Engineer
Engineer
Rifle (leader)
Rifle
Rifle
Rifle
Engineer (no leader)
Engineer
Engineer
Engineer
Engineer
Engineer
Rifle
60mm mortar
30cal
30cal
30cal
Forward obsv.
You can also get Engineer leaders over rifle squads, Brittish commandos in charge of US rifle platoons, anti-tank guns under infantry leaders... and there's not much you can do about it. Does this matter? Am I crippling my chain of command? Or it is merely cosmetic?
