Boss, Customers, Co-erm-Workers (using a lap-top to stay on top of events and a USB memeory stick to transfer the safes [;)]), Girlfiend, Dog, Cat, Microwave, McDo and Pizza Service ..... what was the name of these wide awake pills ?

Cheers

well , some of us have job(s), wife(s) and kid(s). IF I do 5 turns a day, I'm happy. However, now I'm waiting for the patch so I paused the gaming.

This is a great game...I had grown tired of 'hard-drive' games and have only been playing online stuff for a couple of years now. But I had the original Pac War game by Gary years ago. Enjoyed it and wanted to give this one a try.

I find myself doing a couple of turns...then heading down stairs to read WWII history books about the Pacific. Like others have said...dispite being fairly well read about the Pac War. You don't really grasp the geography and the forces available until you've played the game. An example would be Singapore. I knew of that city ...but man, till I played this game I did not realize it was the key to that whole area that separates the Pacific and Indian Oceans.

The Air, Naval and Ground elements have been worked out nicely. The game is smooth. I will agree it is a bit slow to grind through. But I'm going to just get the attitude that this is a long term hobby. I'll devote about a year I guess to doing the long campaign.

I salute the guys that made this game! Its right up my alley.

Hi, Zoomie thats only 2 turns per day. Try cutting down on sleeping. I can do at least 10 turns in a 24 hour period and I think I've done as many as 40. (At 40 turns per day you can finish the entire war in around 42 days. (You can sleep when you finish)

LOL!!! Yea, that sleep thing is highly overrated, I suppose. That job/work thing is overrated, too!

I would be happy with one of each of the above...[:'(]

Nah, trust me they all just interfere with playing the game. Just try waiting for the patch for one of each above. Their release versions are quite buggy, you have a work-around for most of the bugs, but the thing still blows up in your face ever so often ;)

Are we really going to get a wife/kid/job patch? Now THAT's cool!....

Wife patch

Just how big is this patch. I only have dial up. Is it available as a CD as well?

When will the wife patch be available in stores? Will it be cheaper in stores? (My wife is rarely "cheaper in stores")?

And, most importantly,

Will _this_ wife patch finally include a manual that explains how to avoid riling her?

There might be a manual for that wife patch, but it might be over 250 pages, and considering a lot of the questions on this board, that manual will not be read either. [:D]

Well, the wife patch is afaik not completely stable and while it fixes some bugs, it can introduce a whole new set of new bugs. As always, it does not come with a manual. It's the typical "push this button" and see what happens type of approach. If you are a quick learner you know which the buttons are that cause a systems crash. Also, note that the buttons are different based on the time of the month.

While you can download the patch relatively quickly even with dial up, the deinstallation process of the old release version can be quite tricky and very expensive if not done properly, because it can permanently damage the hardware. The new installation is usually pretty easy, but after some usage, the different set of bugs reappears. You have to decide then if you want to deinstall the patch and go to a whole different version, or if you will rely on the work arounds....
