Help please!

Post by Lemurs! »

I have no clue what happened.
I have made 2 scenarios; 26&27. 26 i released to you guys and 27 is the same but without Yamatos.

I did this as 1 scenario that diverged when i got to my ship changes for 27.
The weird thing is that my scn 27 (basically the same as 26) works just fine!
Scenario 26 that i put on spookys board for whatever reason the Jap carrier TF moves 1 hex with either historical first turn or not. damn! No Pearl Harbour attack.

I did not even touch the carrier TF in any way in my mod! I was mostly changing aircraft & ship stats.
Every ship in the carrier force still has fuel.
The 'carrier force' in the location portion of the database editor has the exact same values in my 2 scenarios.

I am running out of ideas.

Are there any Betas or Matrix people that are good with the editor that might have an idea or might take a look at this and see what the problem is?
Please?

Mike,

I just did a comparison between scenario 15 and your scenario 26. The only thing I can find different is the the Yamato starts scenario 15 with a delay of 420520 and in scenario 26 of 0.

Then only other idea I have is that you saved the scenario 27 (scenario editor) data under scenario 26 as well as scenario 27. If the scenario data gets out of sync with the database strange things can happen. Its in the editor manual introduction.

If you did get them mixed up I can't think of an easy fix off hand, I hope Rich Dionne or one of the other developers can help you.

I won't be able to do so until sometime this weekend but I'll take a look see what is going on with it. I have to do my WitP testing duties first, then I'll look at your files to see what the problem is.

Zip up the scenario files and email them to me and I'll take and see if I can figure it out for you.

Mike FYI,

I took a quick look at your scenario while killing some time before leaving for work this morning. I can tell you where the problem is but can not tell you what the exact problem is yet without looking harder.

The problem is in the Ship Class data base, Rename wpc026.dat to wpc026.dat.old, then copy the class file from scenario 15 into the 26 slot and the problem goes away so the problem resides in one of the changes you made to the class information for one of the classes of ships in TF1. It should be easy to track down from here.

I was taking a look at the changes in the file and ran across a DD with a 6/44? refit. I was going along, checking the AA and ASW values of various ships to see how to best allocate them when I went, "Damn! I want some more of THOSE!" Anyway, maybe check the DD's?

Oh, and what is the fuel state/endurance on all the ships in KB? If you were out of gas, you'd see a move of one square until you went through refueling. Befcause of the special treatment of KB on turn 1, one ship with bad endurance or fuel could hanstring the whole thing.

Thanks Pry & Oznoyng,

I checked the fuel state already by starting a head-to-head non-historical start and all of the ships have fuel.

I will check the ships now and see what screw up i made. I did a lot of work on the Japanese destroyers as i felt there were a large number of problems in the stock OOB.

Thanks again,
I will hopefully fix this tonight!

Check here

sounds like when the patch comes out, you will have to restart your scenario anyway.

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay getting my scenario fixed; Pry & I were thinking it was a file corruption problem. So, i started rebuilding the file one thing at a time with a back up after each change when i found it!

Like almost every problem it was obvious when i found the glitch.
Kido Butai starts in port. With my glitched scenario KB moves 1 hex on the surprise turn. The designers show Soryu with 66% of Hiryu's aircraft opperating points. I felt this was incorrect by a small amount and changed it to 75%.

Just one little change.

Guess what? It takes operations points to reload aircraft operating points while in port! Duh!
So when i change the Scenario class of Soryu to 350 or so instead of 288 Soryu the ship still has 288 and the first thing it does as the scenario starts is reload the missing points! Obvious! I am just slow.

Thanks much to Pry for helping me find this. I appreciate it.

I will send the fixed (and tested!) scenario to Spooky in a few minutes for him to add.

All of you who have downloaded my scenario will need to get it again from Spooky. Sorry about that.

Hi all,

It is off to Spooky fully tested and working.

I also added Sea Hurricanes, removed Sea Gladiators,
added L2D2s to theJapanese. I changed the upgrade paths slightly; the Ki-54 now upgrades to L2d2s, the Fulmar upgrades to the Sea Hurricane, the Hurricane IIb upgrades to the Hurricanes IIc/d/IV, while the Hurricane IIc upgrades to the Thunderbolt II.

enjoy!
