4.02 Drasticly increases fighter missions difficulty.

Post by ANUBIS »

Just updated to 4.02

Just about every "intercept incoming package" mission I launch and the "incoming package" is allready dead.

And strike missions have become nearly impossible if the target is anywhere near an enemy carrier, or a carrier itself.
1)My own 2 ship fighter cover is useless, they turn and run away untill they die.
2)Target is seldom near the assault nav point, at which point the friendly fighters RTB.
3)Enemy carriers are now launching multiples of fighters that simply tear apart any strike package, even if the above fighter cover hasn't yet RTB'd or been chased acrost the sector.

(btw) If the overall tone of my posts sound negative, it does not reflect my overall opinion of the game. I love the game!

Just would like to note.. there is still a problem that comes up randomly in Sweep/Patrol missions: click "start mission", I see the "Jump" animation, and start off floating in space, 1 sector away. I still get the whole launch of the flight deck animation, but I am in space.. I get no control untill I "launched" then have to travel via farcaster to mission coordinates.. BUT the carrier NEVER JUMPED ANYWHERE, it stayed at the same location, but I ended up somewhere else.

I seem to be getting the same mission start warp, best I can tell it seems to allways be the first mission I start after starting the game.

Looks just like your going through a farcaster the instant the mission loads up, then you take off just like your still inside the carrier deck.

Yeah. Just Abort or End that mission. I  its caused by the game moving ships around at the start of a campaign mission due to the campaign systems instructions but i'm not sure.
@TheDeadlyShoe> Unless, say, you could make black holes at will.
@Razeam> I can do that but I don't want to.

If you are getting reasonably consistent behavior, please add the command line option "-dump" to the shortcut before you run Starshatter again. Play the game until you see this bug, and then immediately exit the game using ALT+F4.

In the Starshatter game directory you will find a bunch of new .def files containing the missions generated by the dynamic campaign engine. Please stick all of them in a ZIP file and send them to me via email. Then you can remove the -dump option from the shortcut.

Thanks,
