publishers NEVER talk about sales numbers unless they are simply astronomical.

no offense matrix types- it IS your job to say that sales are great, better than expected, etc. [;)]

i think they said the box version would be ready in september, but i'm not certain.

@Razeam> I can do that but I don't want to.

Basically developers see very little profit from games sold in shops, that's OK for EA and the like who sell a lot of games, but for small publishers like Matrix it gets to the point where selling via retail isn't worth the trouble.

when walmart buys
they buy in the hunderds of thousands of copys

even small returns are HUGE profits at that volume

That just ain't necessarily so, Damo. One of my clients at work was selling through retail at Sam's Club and Wal*Mart. The initial order was for less than 3000 pieces. As far as I know, there was never a followup order. The product in question just wasn't a big seller.

Some days you gets the bear, other days...

I asked them a while ago(here in town) how they bought games, the guy told me they usually buy for each store in an area, like all of america or so.

If the titles says Tiger Woods PGA 24, DOOM 3 or Halflife 2 , yes, then you´re right [;)]

For "normal" games from other publishers then the real big ones it´s more likly they only take 2000 and see how they do. Then they order more, sometimes ....

Oh, and you don´t see any money for games they don´t sell, they just go back to you. For the games you sell you´ll wait 6 or more month to get payed from them (big retail chains).
