Great Game

Post by Ahmo »

Hi, I just wanted to say thank you for a great game. I've played all kinds of computer and board games, and a few years ago I started to flirt with wargames... Squad Battles, Combat Mission, and recently War In The Pacific. I finally picked up HTTR and have to say that it is fantastic. The sheer daunting amount of information you have to process for WitP makes the game very hard to get into, especially as my background of the historic nature of the game is limited.

I have to say that HTTR is presented (in game and through the manual) in a fresh, easy to understand way. I played the game, was fairly well lost, stopped and read the whole manual - and TADA! the game made sense and is quite a bit of fun. I've been enjoying it thoroughly. I've read through both of the Hints and tips thread (great information there as well) and seen countless posts about the strategy guide. I'm about 2 posts from ordering it.

Again, I wanted to say thank you for making such a great game that is so accessible. I look forward to future releases.

I'd like to second that. For me the bonus is driving through the british landing zones daily on my way to and from work. I have always been interested in operation Market Garden because I live in the area where it all took place, but this game has rekindled my interest and brought it to a whole new level.

Having owned Fire Brigade on the Amiga, I was glad to see you guys are still making great games.

I have to say I am very satisfied with the game it plays well, is fun and is very immersive definitly the best wargame since the v for victory series.

The one quibble is god how I want to play the whole Market Garden operation with this game. presently I have found the Eindhoven scenario my favourite for its scope of flexible operations on both sides.

We too would like to play the entire MG operation. However, until CPU speeds quadruple in speed we're going to have to wait a bit. Once we release COTA we'll work on putting out the HTTR upgrade, incorporating the COTA features, including the new campaign feature. This should allow all you budding designers out there to create your own MG campaigns linking the various maps together. There will be a number of options here. Probably the most obvious one would be a campaign from the perspective of 30th Corps and its drive up Hell's highway. Should add a whole new dimension to HTTR.[:)]

When something is good you always want more......the system would be killer for campaigns[:)]

I know damn all about programing but one feature that would be cool for MP would be the ability for the higher headquarters to be controled by individual players for both co-op and adversal play.....it would make hq swapping and supply fun [:)]

What type of Multiplayer system do you want?

Post by Arjuna »

Yes there are two basic approaches when it comes to multiplayer - hierarchical and co-operative ( ie. where all players on the same side are deemed to be equal in rank ). Both have their advantages and disadvantages. What do people prefer?

I think I prefer a hierarchical approach. It would be more realistic in a way.

I've created a separate thread for the Team Play issue. So please post your thoughts there. Thanks,
