Can't change HQ's for any Japanese Bases?

Post by Shumy79 »

Hi,

Can't seem to be able to change any HQ's for any Japanese bases. I'm trying to change the bases in Malaya from Burma Area HQ to Southern Area HQ's. I've got units whom are attached to Southern Area Army inside the base I want to change but when I bring up the list of Hq's to pick from they are still all greyed out?

Yes I have well over 5000 PP's so that's no problem. I've had no problems changing Bases HQ's for the Allies. Is there an extra requirement for the Japanese bases?

Thank you

Kid,

It's scenario 15 and I'm in April 42. The game is version 1.2 but the problem was existing in version 1.0. Unless I'm missing something here, I think it's a bug because there seems to be no problem for Allies changing base HQ's. I understand I can't change a base from an army HQ to a naval HQ, but there shouldn't be a problem from changing a base from being controlled by Burma Area Army HQ to Southern Area Army HQ. And like I said above I have well over 4000 PP's and I have changed some LCU's inside the base to Southern Area Army.

And Sundevil and Ironduke, I read Frag's post the other day. I just plain forgot to be more specific about the details [;)]

Can you send me a save with the text from this post (I get a lot of saves) and which bases you are trying to change and to what. I'll see what's going on.

Not a BUG

Post by siRkid »

Afret reporting your problem and sending the save, Mike wrote back:

As far as the problem of base HQ changes, did you know that you must have a land based unit at the base which belongs to the HQ to which you wish to transfer base HQ? Without any land based units, no change can be made. If land based units all belong to the HQ to which the base is currently assigned, no change can be made. This could be part of your problem. And, when no change is possible, all HQ text is greyed out.

Ah that makes sense. Gotta have somebody there to turn command over to. Must have missed that in the manual.

Wow, I thought this bug was not in doubt. I am sending a save to Kid with my jan 8 1842 save. No japanese base seems to be able to change, even when occupied solely by units from another command. All my Malaya bases, for instance, are under Burma Area Army control, but every unit in Malaya is Southern Area Army. If this isn't a hardcoded bug, then what is it?

Hi. Also sometimes when a base is captured it is assigned to computer control. (lower left hand corner of base screen) You can't trasnfer a base under computer control.
This bug seems to be when a human captures a base the enemy had under computer control this setting remains. (against the AI all bases are under computer control)

Nah, the bases I want to change are on Human control and still doesn't work. But I think the developers have already squashed this bug and it'll be alright in the next patch.

This explains a lot. Just one more thing missing from the manual.

This problem of Bases being placed under computer control has some very irritating effects when playing a small map scenario.
  • You can't change them to Human control.
  • They generate computer controlled convoys (sending them to stupid places).
  • You can't change HQ attachment.

Guess I misread the post by Mike because this is the prblem I am having too. Now, to clarify, putting a Burma Area lcu in Khota Bahru won't help changing control from Burma to Southern Area?[&:]
