Aussie Divs and Port Moresby

Post by Toro »

Okay, maybe I missed it somewhere... but how the heck do I move Australian Infantry Divs from Brisbane to Port M without changing their reporting HQ?

You can't. IF they are in a restricted command they will not board plane or Aircraft period. If they can't march there they can't get there.

you have to wait for the 5th Division (I think) - that one is attached to Southwest Pacific HQ

Save enough PP to make PM and Gili Gili and Buna if you can save it SWPAC bases. and then change over some INF to SWPAC to man the bases.

Oh, so that's how it is, eh? All those wonderful troops we could move around in UV are just taunting us in WitP, hummm???

Thanks. I was afraid of that. Guess I have to pull some troops from Malaysia... [X(]

If you have enough PP you can change an Aussie Home Defense Div to SWPAC. But I'm not sure if you ever get enough PP to do that before it matters. YOu might switch one of those big USA Divisions in Central Pacific to SWPAC. I think they are cheaper in PP's to do than Aussie Div's. Haven't tried either though.

Why Change it to SWPAC? The Central PAC divisons are free divisions they can go where they please. You do not get the HQ bonus, but early in he game troops are better than no troops. This would let you save you PPs for other uses.

Sooner or later your going to have to change PM to SWPAC since thats your launching point for retaking the rest of New Guniea.

I have a "thing" about the chain of command. Playing Japan, I strive to keep 15th Army divisions close by 15 Army HQ's and 15th Army HQ's close by Burma Area Army HQ's. Any unit deployed to New Guinea belongs to MAC. Just my "thing".

I didn't think which command the base reported to had any game impact?

Here are some past threads on HQ's. You should also read the HQ section in the infantry part of the manual again.

Its doesnt but its easier for book keeping purposes to say...SWPAC is going to focus of the SW Pacific. You can move things about at will if you have the PP.

I know in my current game Scen15, that NZ has a full division available. I transported it PM. I think it was the 3rd NZ? I'm not at home right now. That is also a fast solution. I think they also have a Brigade avail.

Now, I'm also playing against the AI.

Not sure I'd move them if I were playing a PBEM. Maybe early it wouldn't hurt as the IJ have other things on their mind and supply lines to consider. NZ is very far away.
