He wants you waiting up and losing sleep, so you get tired and make a mistake. Watch out for the banana. [:D]

I sent the turn, however all internet services with IPRIMUS are down - could be me, could be them, but when you ring their technical support they are hanging up on me saying they have too many calls.

Pissed about it. No turns until my net is back up (borrowed pc here).

I'm back and pissed at my ISP. What a bunch of useless pig-fuckers. 5 literally identical calls to 5 different equally clueless tech support people (I swear one of them was computer illiterate!) and escalated to other tech support people 5 times. I kept TELLING them what the problem was (power was cut off on wed, $300 surge protector on my pc and modem, but the suddeness of it all going off created a "ghost" session, so as far as the ISP was concerned, I was logged on that whole time and got authentication errors every time I tried to log on (because I was "already" logged on). All they had to do was go and find my particular connection and pull the plug at their end and it took 3 days for perhaps 50 seconds work for a capable sys tech.

Now I'm several builds behind everyone else in WITP testing, haven't played in three adys and have many many turns waiting for me.

Ok, slightly less angry as I've funally got to run a few turns.

The turns against Raver have been getting emptier and emptier and the reason is obvious - both players are really starting to focus on just one or two of their interests.

My troops took Bali, and killed off another 2000 of Raver's troops there. He is going to loose a lot of troops in my conquest of the DEI I feel. There will be no escape.

In the next week stage one of my operations will be complete.

Liar liar pants on bloody fire.

They why were they spotted heading east??

Wanker ! Did you think that you are the only one who knows how to spoof air recon?

This is just to point out what a liar this bastard is. headed towards townseville my ass - my sub pickets spotted transports headed northwest just south of pm, and those combat ships headed north east past the GG gap - doesn't take a degree in astrophysics to figure out where they're going!

Will Raver press ahead knowing I've now spotted him twice in three turns?? Raver's bombers out of java starting to pound on my supply ships withdrawing from Bali. Going to have to do something about that, but if I send any dds near those CD batteries in java it ain't going to be pretty.[:-]

I had a big surprise planne din china but screwed up on the infrastructure required to pull such a plan off. Going to take a lot longer than I thought - and as a result may render the entire operation as pointless from the beginning (had to be a quick strike and it isn't gonig to be). Trail movement is really, really slow.

Just to further compound raver's lie my subs re-interdicted that same tf headed north east through the gg gap and to my pleasure, put a fat torp through the dd La Triomphant - not so triomphant any more eh?? She's not going to sink, but it did reveal a lot to my sub commander as bodies in the water were wearing ARMY uniforms. That is right people, it is a fast transport group.

They seem to be headed southwest at the moment (noumea?) but that might be a mistake. Of course, he did order them in a different direction as soon as he realised he'd been spotted, his bluff had been called and his lies exposed.

Perhaps they're off to begin the battle at guadacanal - considering I'm behind schedule historically (Yamato still isn't finished??) I think he might be thinking that a fight further away from my supply base wouldn't be a bad idea.

The first wave of invasion tfs was big. The second wave was even bigger as it left japan, with several divisions and armoured units aboard.

This would be the third big invasion wave of thousands upon thousands of new (and old but rested and refitted) troops. I've got base forces, literally dozens of garrison units for the myriad of bases in the SRA, about a hundred (no shit) little eng units each with a seperate destination. Many of these huge tfs are going to make several stops ((dump troops at base a, pick up suplpy at base b, unload at c, pickup resources at c and go off to d etc.)).

Just so you know, this was taken a few turns ago (so Raver's subs won't be able to find them). Could there be an invasion tf in there headed for soerbaja? How about Chandpur or Anderson Is? Perhaps even *gasp* darwin or PM?????????????

Raver seemed to have whacked quite a few AP's in the last report posting.

Has that slowed things down much?

And he whacks more this turn. However he has only sunk 1 - the bombs they're getting hit with are little, and I've got ports to repair flt damage at nearby (an SRA full of them in fact), and my newly expanded repair ports are VERY efficient at the moment as I have a cache system where all damaged ships go to the one port, and from there, they bide their time until it is their turn to move to the home island repair ports - I restrict each home island repair port to just 1 damaged ship, which speeds up repairs quite a bit. My damaged bbs from the early game, Fuso, Yamashiro and Ise are all back online almost at 0 sys (under 5). I've received another few new ships, and a few new experienced squadrons of naval aircraft which is handy.

I've taken bali, set up a big supply base, moved in the base force, added some fighters and most importantly, some search aircraft (which are the whole reason for taking the place). With the extreme long range aircraft at singapore searching left right and centre, and those at bali, I hope to be able to see any of Raver's forces lurking behind java waiting to bush whack invasion forces. I have 3 CV divisions standing by to deal with just such an ambush (although i've pulled them back from the doorstep a bit lately just in case).

My 4th cv division has been tasked with operation "fudge" while I have just received Junyo AND Hiyo (well ahead of schedule - although very variable reinforcement does seem to be working against me at the moment, as Yamato is still 150 days off!) and they will form my 5th cv division. Unfortunately some of the divisions are bigger than others (my little cv division is big enough to be its own division, the 3rd, but the crappy pilots aboard mean that they aren't able to go head to head with Raver's cvs alone).

I accelerated all of the cvs in my ship buliding program this turn. I also welcomed no less than 2 new LARGE divisions and dozens of smaller units around the map. The best part was that I get 2 big inf units in manchuko, and both large divisions for burma. Have been transferring troops around my chinese front lines and am finally happy that all the size 9 forts are garrisoned well enough to be impregnable (basically it would take 9 times the asasult firepower and that is . . . well Raver can only raise 1 or 2 armies that big, and he'd have to seriously condense those chinese to do it etc). This has left me with a pair of armies surplus. The first is to be a lightning strike force, which I have tasked a mission and hopefully I have a shot at success in spite of the late date.

The second has been dubbed my strategic reserve, and although it is only 3 divisions and 3 arm units big, I'm hoping the spreading of AA and ARTY guns along my front (manchuko and korea didn't need them thats for sure!) in all those forts will balance my lack of a decent reserve. As long as Raver's chinese hoard remains unspotted however, I cannot bring myself to transfer these three divisions to the solomons (I've sent a few smaller units out there in the last few turns, added 1 proper assault INF unit (so a mixed regiment or 1/3rd of a division) to most of my island bases in case Raver gets tough. I hope to steal the entirety of the solomons before he can get there to stop me.

Enjoy the pic - the score means nothing at this point. The truth is that even as I steal bases left right and centre, Raver's base point total will increase as time goes on and counteract this greatly. I expect my 4 to 1 ratio will be down to about 2 to 1 by the end of the year. I have not caused enough damage (especially in china) or sunk enough big ticket ships of Raver's to be in the running for autovictory. That is, unless he fights a 6 usn cvs vs every jap cv on the oob battle and looses. Or perhaps 3 RN bbs would tip the scores a bit?

Enjoy.

Or you could start bombing industry in OZ or try to take a few cities in NZ.... that would get you some points.

How many points, SunDevil? The AI has started bombing Darwin and Broome in my game, but it so far has bombed only airfields, not industry. I'm rooting for it to bomb industry so I can see what kind of VPs result!

Forget bombing the industry. I'm wanting to capture it.

Ravers masterful start in china has kept SO many divisions tied up there that if he'd palyed it like he has previously (and like all my other allied opponents I might add!) I'd have the DEI already.

I've lost that fast transport group of his, I think htey ran back to Oz. Rabaul is too big for them to take on now.

In Burma things are looking up as I further increase my presence there by a division and a few more aux land units (arty, eng). I can't commit to an offensive there just yet however - I need to know if there are 200000 chinese troops waiting for me on the other side of the river. They'd be tired, because its a helluva long march, and they would have had to use a crappy little trail and do it on 0 supplies (and chaing Kai Shek was never one to let his troops leave china but anyway). If they ARE there, they are the best supplied chinese troops in the game atm, being so much closer to india.

If I can find them, then suddenly I will ahve enough intel to makea decision on where to attack. If I can't, sooner or later I'm just going to have to take the plunge. If Raver is still sitting behind the rivers with allied and chinese troops come 6/43, that have been preparinga nd resting all that time . . . well lets just say that I need that river as a defensive obstacle more than he does.

In the DEI my spotter planes out of bali spot nothing - absolutely nothing. I've got a CV division off chasing down a hunch of mine, another on defensive station, and the rest of those cv groups are all poised to attack as soon as Raver shows his hand in the DEI.

many many troops are now resting and refitting at forward bases after their recent struggles in the P.I. Kendari and Rabaul are literally bursting with supplies and troops and the disorder is only going to get worse. I have operation "Splatter" scheduled for next month, depending on how my present ops go.

Pahse 1 of the DEI invasion has hit a snag. Lots of allied troops at Medang - and although I outnumber them, my mixed inf unit there was caught off guard. I lsot a few troops and it wasn't pretty. They're settling in for a shoving match, but hopefully within a few days I'll be back on track, having taken medang and Kuala and stranded those allied troops on the interior of Sumatra with no escape and no supply (once I cut the trail base off on the road to Teklacaboang (or whatever the hell its called).

Well, my little scouting operation found NO american CVs. NONE! it did find a couple of worthless allied transports and didn't both to sink them and avoided detection completely - although it performed a 3 turn sweep of the area I expected to find enemy cv activity.

As a result I have given orders - to redeploy my waiting cv divisions in a hurry. With one area of the map ruled out for Raver's cvs I am suddenly very thankful that I sent in the scouts and realised I was out of position. This might have just saved me the war (but I can't tell you where the mission was yet, but lets just say that CS ships and little cvs can spread out to search a very wide front and cover a lot of ground in 3 turns).

In other news there is a titanic air battle over Rangoon. P.Hori gains his 7th kill to become the 5th best pilot on my roster kill wise. First the blenheims came in alone and got spanked, and then the tomahawks showed up and claimed 5 kills. They shot down 2 planes, and fortunately I only lost 1 pilot it appears.

Actually, not true. General Chenault was given command of what I think (but could not confirm) were two Chinese Army corps in a unit called the CAI (the Chinese Army in India). They fought mostly around the Ledo and in northern Burma.

That would be General Stilwell (Vinegar Joe) that commanded two Chinese "Armies" (Chinese Army = Division) in Burma. Gen. Chennault commanded first the AVG then the USAAF in the CBI.

PS. Enjoying your AAR Thayne very much.
