Pilot replenishment

Post by TNKRGD »

Not sure if anyone has noticed this and I might have missed this in the manual. But could someone tell what dictacts pilot replacement? An example of what I mean is I have groups in PH on DEc 12th with lots of planes and no pilots. I check my replacement pool and have plenty of pilots in the army, navy and marine groups. I am just cruious why I have B-17s and P-40s sitting in PH without pilots. Are they still in flight school or something?

Do you know about the toggle on each group that turns replacements on and off? The default is set to off.

Yes all of my groups are set to acept replacements, they are getting airplanes faster than pilots and there are more pilots available.

Pilots are normally drawn when a damaged plane shifts to ready.

Should you get into a situation where you have more ready aircraft then planes, transfer them somewhere, they should pull all the pilots needed instantly.

Version 1.21 - Scen 15 - 45th FS
24 P-40E Ready
0 Damaged
19 Pilots

Transfered them to Johnston Is. and it remained 19 pilots. Been having this problem as well.

Guess they towed the 5 planes with no pilots.

Ahh that would explain my situation at Port Moresby.

Think I flew a lone P-40E survivor or two from the Phillipines, rebuilt the squadron up to 72 planes, but months later only have 25 pilots and climbing slowly (as they get damaged and are repaired I assume).

Handy to know.

Thanks

Why wouldn't the pilots just come in on the next transport ship or cargo plane arriving at the base?I know its a game and not real life but it would make sense if you didn't need to crate them up and ship em out before replacements arrive.

Oh Great, nice design, takes two months to get a FG to max out on planes, but no pilots, so to fix it, ship them someplace, so it will take two more months to get the FG to max out on ready planes, then what, put them back on ship to take them where you wanted them to be to start with ?

besides, it don't work, I shipped 1 FG and 2 BG's to Apamama, and 2 FG's to Lunga, all are short of pilots (unless the idea is as the planes repair, they will draw in pilots, but that is not working either, got 30 some ready planes, 19 pilots with one group)

Is there any possibility that setting almost all the other air groups to no replacements and those ones to get them, that they will then get a normal flow? Playing as Japan I've never seen this happen, but then my lossses have been few and I've had no air in anything resembling a contested, perhaps aerially dominated location. I'm probably wrong on a point or two there, but perhaps en masse setting everyone elses replacements to off will help? That's the way I've been doing it and I've seen a group with like 8 aircraft ballon to 24 in one day! It surprised me because I thought with the 8 or so planes it had it was one of those 9 or 12 plane groups. I'm sorry I don't usually monitor the pilots, but I think I'm always getting pilots too.
