Dutch Minelayers
I suspect this has been answered before, but is it possible to resupply the Dutch minelayers? I'd really like to put a couple of thousand mines into Rangoon harbor.
RE: Dutch Minelayers
Yeah, way up in India IIRC. Diamond Head seems to come to mind. You just have to get them there, thats the hard part.[:D]

Unless you can find an MLE somewhere. Sidney is also a port you can use. But it's a long way from Soerabaja to Sidney and back.
I lay one set (shallow water) and then just send the MLs to Sidney. Thereafter I use them in the Noumea/Luganville/Port Moresby area.

dutch & brit DD's and SS's doesnt get their tubes reloaded by US Navy AD / AS respectively.
I'll doubt that the Mines will reload fom an US Navy MLE but this is untested yet/no Info I have.

YIKES! Now there is a bulletin (and I have read the Docs three times). I have been blithely moving AD/AR/AS etc around without regard to nationality.

Seems to be a bug which is or will be corrected. Does AD/AS nationality still inhibit loading in version 1.21?

I do not believe it is a bug and doubt it will be corrected.. It makes since.. ADs simply do not have the room to carry around torpedoes for every nationality.. They were designed to carry torps for their own navy, not everyones... Now if they all used the same torp, that would be different, but they don't.. Each nationality (US, RN, Dutch - not sure about Oz) used a different torp in their subs and DDs. The only way to reload them is a port...
Most likely the same will happen with MLEs.. but I don't believe anyone starts the game with any (at least not Dec 7 games)..
Also, I do not believe that the Dutch will get any AD, ASs, MLEs and am not sure about OZ or the RN... Perhaps someone else can answer this... I wonder if you convert a ship in Karachi (insteado of San Fran) will it come out as a RN Ship.... Or if they keep their original nationality - either way if the brits want some tenders, simply convert some of their AKs..

Was a bug ... Has been fixed.

Yes. It was *not* intentional. Had it been intentional, it would have been *in* the manual.

RE: Dutch Minelayers
Batavia has some mines stockpiled at the start of scen 15
If you are talking about the mines that are listed as a number on the base screen, those are the mines that have been laid in defensive minefields at that base. Many bases have these....no good for restocking MLs though.

RE: Dutch Minelayers
Wouldn't it also make sense that if the USA had a bunch of Dutch subs laying around that the Dutch subs would be modified to fit US torps?
I don't see a problem with letting them reload at US ports. Certainly they wouldn't just leave the subs to rust in port. I don't think it would take that much effort to modify the torpedo tubes.

RE: Dutch Minelayers
i'm no torpedo expert...but i would think that it would be next to impossible to "modify" the tubes. from what i have seen in the subs i have been in..the torps match the tubes almost exactly...a very snug fit...i don't think that you would want to put a smaller torp in your tube and have , like 1000 lbs (someone can correct me) banging down the tube. also .... there are design things like displacement and # of tubes.

RE: Dutch Minelayers
If the torpedo is too small you just wrap some rags and old underwear and such around it to get a rough fit. If too small you have the biggest guy in the crew hammer the end of it with a mallet until it scrunches into the tube.
Works with mortar shells, too.

Exactly. That is why the Dutch sub crews are not coed. They did invite "Jimmy's Girl" on a shakedown cruise, however. [:)]
