Why should I buy War in the Pacific? I've played Uncommon Valor for some years and I like it, but I'm afraid WitP is a bit too large to be enjoyable. What do you veterans say?

Roger that.

Another question: How long does a "normal" round take? An hour?
And: Isn't it easy to loose the overview and forget the plans you have for each taskforce?

First turn can take ages for a Japanese player, some players plan for 10 hours, usally turns after december 7th you can go through in minutes, as its just doing the odd aleration and sending the odd supply boat here and there, while you wait for your initial invasions to finish.

Notes do help, but a good memory should suffice.

I'm playing the Allies. I'm in kind of a lull right now. I have my computer convoys in place, so I'm not spending any time worrying about general supply issues. For the past couple of nights, it's taken about as long for the computer to run the turn as it has for me to make inputs. I'm guessing it's about 15 - 20 per turn. But, when there is a major move afoot - like a Japanese or Allied invasion - things can slow way down. This game is not nearly as time intensive as I thought it would be. And, if you think about it, this is very realistic. You really get a good feeling for the long lulls between the intensive fights.

Yes, I lose track sometimes. Not so much from turn to turn, but if I take a day off, I have kind of forgotten what was going on by the time I come back to the game. Nothing serious, though.

I must have the worst memory here. I forget where my supplies are, where there going, where my a/c are, etc.

I'll be keel-hauled soon enough.

For me, the first turn in both UV and WitP take a very long time as I get things set up to my satisfaction. After that, playing either a UV or WitP campaign turn takes me about the same time, dependant upon what is going on in the game. If you truly enjoy UV, you will enjoy WitP.

Edit: I also had the same concerns about WitP that the starter of this thread shows. I had intended to play mainly the smaller scenarios, but curiosity brought me to the big campaigns, and now that's what I am playing.
