Another AAR look at Turkey in 1806

Post by MarshallEllis »

Hey guys:

Let's take a look at our Turkish friends in April 1806...

A few notes:

My quest for the Med continues.
I was able to achieve an alliance with France and thay did loan me some money to help my exploits BUT it hasn't been the giant help that I thought?????
I'm just now getting enough money to build a few things on my own.

Question is now...

Do I continue in the Med and go on to create the Ottoman Empire?
Do I create the Ottoman at all?
Do I move North up the Italian Penninsula?
Do I do both?

Overall situation is that France, Austria and Prussia are dancing around each other and sucking up the minors. Russia is posted on the border of Prussia BUT has not attacked anybody yet??? NO MAJOR nation is at war with another major YET BUT there are few minors left??? I'm suspecting that 1806 will be the start of several major conflicts...

Current VPs are Prussia in a slight percentage lead at 13%

BTW: You'll notice the text in my status window. The text where France is rolling a nuisance roll to evaluate our alliance. This is because I'm nagging them about money and the more that I do this the more France will refuse to give me money and possibly be able to break our alliance without them loaing any PP! This was done to prevent a human from taking advantage of the AI and simply trying to constantly take their money!

Keep your eyes on CNN and wait for the latest info...

No French player should ever break an alliance with Turkey. If they ask too much, give them what you think is enough, Turkey is used to small amounts, and they are still happy. They are too valuable not to have as French ally during the inital drive east.

Why is Russia poised at Prussia again, as in the other AAR? Shouldn't they finally notice Turkey? Especially with your Med strategy [;)]

Starting point for major wars should be spring 1805, or France looses initiative.

As for your Turkey you should allways try to go after the Ottoman Empire to raise your morale, get additional corps counters, and not to mention income. Italy is usually full of French, Austrian and Spanish forces, avoid that hot spot. [8D]

Keep up the good work and the AARs coming. [&o]

Your question is difficult because it depends of diplomacy and what do tou think the other countries are looking for.

For example. What is France doing?. I mean, Is France searching an alliance with Spain to invade England?. In this case, maybe Spain will consider Moroco and Argel as its backyard, and if France has to choose between Spain and Turkey, France will choose Spain, because Spain has 57 ships plus Portugal fleet.

About Italy. Ususally it´s not a good quesytion because France, Austria, Spain and Russia didn´t agree, but if you think that the between france and Austria-Prusia will be declared soon, maybe this will be a good question, if you are sure that Austria will declare war to you and france will follow you.

I have one question, can you give us an explanation on the color coding for the minimap? Is red your conquered minors? If it was allready posted and answered I apologize, but a search on minimap didn't produce any results.

Thanks

Hey guys:

Russia is playing a passive roll and HAS NOT allied with anybody. There is a "reaction strategy" I've added that will leave Russia idol until France has committed to major war then Russia randomly picks his/her partners (France or Prussia/Austria) (Not sure is she's playing this one or not???). The fact that France has NOT invaded any major nation yet has thrown a kink into this plan and allowed me to quietly grab much of the med!

In regards to the Ottoman, I'm starting to believe that it may not be worth the hassel since I'm in drastic need of income and the income sitation would be worse if I give most of my conquered turf up to the Ottoman. I realize you get the unspent money every December BUT that's not enough. Keeping the conquered turf can make me in excess of an extra 80$ per year where the Ottoman payment would probably average about 30$ per year. Something to think about...

I would be a bit nervous if I were Prussia or Austria???????

Our CNN reporters are in Vienna and Berlin so if we hear the bombardment, we'll bust into the forums ASAP!

Stay tuned...

The increase in Ottoman morale is well worth $50 per year. You can also make up a lot of that $50 with gifts from France (if you can get them in the computer game).

If France goes to war with Austria, you may be able to get some of the Austrian provinces as well to make up the cash difference.

Just my thoughts.

Be careful of the Insurrection Corps though if you go into Austria.

Form the OE it is worth it. Extra troops, corps and garrisons.
It is a general popular error to suppose the loudest complainers for the public to be the most anxious for its welfare.

Definitly go Ottoman. It sounds like a nice place to relax.

Always create Otoman Empire. You will create a huge army. Austria can't face a two fronts war against France and turkey and you will get a Inconditional.
