My Torps Have Gone !

It`s May `42 and operating Nell`s and Betties out of Lae. My attacks on TF`s go in with bombs and not torpedoes.
What are the constraints so that they can`t use torps?
Lae AF is size 4 and >20000 supply. Port size is 2.
I`m sure the solution is simple but I can`t find any refererce to it in the manual.

Your range will also force them to use bombs. If they are beyond Normal range they carry bombs.

Don't let them attack beyond normal range.

Good point, but they are attacking Transport TF`s in Port Morseby.

Naval Attack or Port Attack?

They are on Naval Attack.Max range is 10 hexes. ALT is 10,000.

It is a dice roll if they are attacking ships in a port. If they are on the High Seas then they will take torps, in port it is a crap shoot as to what teh commander on teh ground wants to use.

Pretty sure if they are docked they are considered to be in port. I don't think you'll ever get torps for this attack (Naval Attack vs ships in port). The die roll is only for Port Attack.
