Not everybody can afford DSL or cable [:@]

Plus its not available everywhere.

Some places have nice little telecoms that run out and improve their infrastructure whenever they can. Other places have telecoms that believe that infrastructure investment is generally a bad idea, it just encourages their customers to expect things from them.

"Look, you have a standard black rotary phone on a party line! And you want more? That should be all you will ever need! And $50 a month is a darn good price for that service!"

(Okay, I exaggerate - but contemplate that thought for a second, then shudder)

Fortunately, this corner of the world has glorious DSL and Cable available, and they have continuous price wars because of the competition between the two providers.

Its all good, but I know others aren't so lucky.

I have a question regarding the new installers. Is there some way in the future it might be possable to download an updated install file for those of us who bought 1.0. The reason I ask is that depending on the size and number of patches one needs, it might be easer to download a new installer rather than a series of patches that might be larger than the installer.

Anyone still using a 56K in this day and age could also be thought stupid[:D][;)].

I don't tihink I am stupid, just disadvantaged. If I could get a broadband for a reasonable price
I would. I just can not.[:@]

What is reasonable?

I pay 44.95 for my cable access, Is it reasonable? The 56K connection is 21.95, so I'm paying 23.00 more a Month..

The question I asked myself was $23 more worth it, the answer is yes
given $23 Is like 4 less "meals" at a McD's each month and so I'm dieting this way

Don't look at the total cost of cable/dsl, look at the DIFFERENCE it would cost and look at that amount and decide if its worth it,
since with 56K i'd been paying 21.95 it was only a question of if $23 was too much not if $44.95 was too much.
Noise? What Noise? It's sooooo quiet and Peaceful!

I'm paying roughly $50/month for my DSL broadband (at current exchange rates).

But hey, it's 10 Mbit so I'm a happy camper. Plus we're two to share it so I end up with just a $25 bill anyway. [:'(]
