My bombers are central pac, my HQ is south Pac

Post by Og »

Does a south Pacific HQ help a central Pacific bomber group? if they are both in the same hex in the Central pacific?

How about if they are both in the same hex in the South Pacific?

How about if one is within 5 hexes in the Central Pacific and the other is in the south pacific.

Does just any air HQ help just any bomber group? Is there any kind of hierachy?

This qualifies as the most asked question in the game.

Look at the base screen. See up at the top left corner? It has a HQ. Find that Command HQ. That HQ governs upgrades and replacements. ONLY this HQ controls these effects. This applies to all units at the base.

Do *not* confuse this with combat bonuses provided from Army HQ's+Command HQ's or repair bonuses provided by Fleet HQ's or invasion bonuses provided by Amphib HQ's or flight bonuses provided by Air HQ's. ANY HQ in range gives it's bonus to ANY units of the correct type for the bonus.

Note the use of ANY vs ONLY for the different effects.

Thanks Mr Frag.

But...Does a south Pacific HQ help a central Pacific bomber group?

How does your answer answer my question? I guess you are saying yes, or are you saying yes in some cases?

See the ONLY portion of the response.

If the Bomber group is sitting at a BASE that belongs to SOPAC then SOPAC does the job. It couldn't care less about CENPAC.

Thats, fine, *but* don't attach them to China Command, just shift to SOPAC.

Nope, not at all ... go back up and read the *ONLY* section again [;)]

It just gives you the freedom to go anywhere you want as SOPAC is completely unrestricted.

The difference would be that if your Southpac CommandHQ is on a Southpac base, the *LAND* units on that base will get much more replacements, as compared to the base being a Centpac base.

For your bomber unit, there should be no difference at all (or none that anyone could ever notice). For combat of the land unit, it's both the same too.

(Taking the severe risk that Mr.Frag will simply whack me upside the head with a 2x4.) May I suggest that you get them to write a better manual next time? (Now running away and desparately looking for a hiding place.)

[:D]

EDIT: Oh, sh**. Is it a good omen or a bad omen that this was the post that kicked me up from Matrix Veteran to Matrix Hero?

They can write a better manual right now; it's not like much of it needs changing, just rewriting a few parts that relate (imho) to land and HQ operations. That's probably 3 pages of work.

How can Frag get them to do that?

The manual considering the scope of this game is probably one of the best I have ever seen. Sure it could be a few hundred pages longer, but then everyone here would have nothing better to do then bitch about stuff [:D]

And that would be different than the current situation how exactly...?

[:)]

I don't think the manual would have to be any longer, just some parts of it are really, really, really confusing. It might actually end up shorter if it was made clearer.
