There is a hex map out there on Spooky's site. I believe it's the real deal, so you can take a look at it Stil..

Marc,

Know what I'd like to see? Same map with the ocean hexes a very light blue. This would allow us to laminate and write on the map, making notes more visible.

Just a thought.

Got mine yesterday and the hexes are, as you would imagine, small. Looks good though. Haven't got it laminated yet.

When mine arrives I am going to mount it in a poster frame, the kind covered with plexi-glass. That way I can hang it on the wall next to my computer and write on it with a grease pencil. I have been doing this with my Civil War game maps and it works great. You can buy a poster frame around 10 to 20 dollars.

Well, the designer who did Campaigns on the Danube also did a strategic ACW game under his own publishing label (ADANAC)...perhaps it will ultimately be redone and published by Matrix

Currently I am playing The Civil War by Victory Games, but I also play the Great Campaigns of the American Civil War series. The one by Victory Games covers the entire Civil War.

I am playing these games online with a program called VASSAL. Its a great way to play when you cannot play face to face. With this program, you can play live, or PBEM.

The maps that come with these games fit in a poster frame that is 24 x 36 inches. I pay anywhere from 12 to 18 dollars, but it does a great job of protecting the map when I am playing face to face, but also allows me to hang them on a wall for reference when I play the game online.

I would love for Matrix to make my favorite Civil War games into a computer game. [8D]

The fact that MATRIX is making a printed version of this map available is one of
the worst pieces of news I've heard on the forum. It means they are committed
to this God-Awful piece of junk with all it's inaccuracies. Has anyone eles noticed
that aside from the "made-up transportation nets" the "distance-warping effects"
are also one-sided? Not only is New Guinea/Pt Moresby out of C-47 range from
Australian Air bases they historically made the flights from---but Rabaul is also
completely out of B-17/B-24 range from ANY base in Australia---even though it
was regularly bombed from them in the actual war. It looks more and more as
if a "Japanese Fan-boy" put this thing together...

I've just had a play around with photoshop and the map images in the game folder, and produced some effective greyscale maps of an area I'll be playing on. I'm sure if I really knew what I was doing with photoshop I could have made some really nice ones.

WE have to pay $20 for a map ! Please tell me that is a mistake.

$70 for the game. Ok, that is pretty high, but a very good game.

downloading it, ok, again not too bad. Even with the printing of a 200+ page manual.

But give me a break. $20 for a map. Every other game I have ever bought has a box, a printed manual and a map, etc.

I think $20 for a printed map is a shame and disgrace. [>:]

Kpax,

You don't NEED a map, as it is always done in-game.

This map is a poster-sized bonus for us yahoos who like to sit and stare at the wall and project strategy when we need to unplug from our systems..

I think it's worth the price meself..

Ah, what the hell...

It's always better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it, but do I need it, or want it, and if I want it I need $20 which I don't have.

It is a goodie we brought up because the fans demanded it. You don´t have to buy it to play the game.
