Some questions

Is it true that the automatic convoy system creates a TF only if a base has only supply for 2 days left?(The manual says 2 times the supply need and the need is a daily value, or?)

My problem with the manual convoys is that even if you put them on "repeat" you have to calculate a lot around so that the base gets enought supply but not too much.
And if the supply needs change you have to calculate it again.

Can't there be a small calculation added so the you can set home base and destination base and the game calculates the supply needs based on the travel time it would take the TF to get there?

At least a screen like the one for air units "transfer to base" would be nice. It should show distance and daily supply needs, so getting the values for calculation would be a lot easier.

What's up with the speed values. Maybe I mised something but a speed of 15 knots means 15 miles an hour and a complete turn has 24 hours so a ship using 15 miles should travel 360 miles or 6 hexes. If this is correct why does a CV travel only 3 hexes???

It will move three hexes per phase. There are two movement phases.

Sorry, I dont' know anything about the auto-convoy system. I do not use it.

I have also found the auto convoy system lacking and do not use it. I do use compter controlled automatic convoys that I set up myself to just run appropriate materials between active bases, but that is it.

Hi, Japanese auto convoy is tricky at first. Several thing to consider.

1. Don't assign ships to bases too early. Wait for your advance to place bases in safe areas. You never want auto convoy running to a base in enemy air range.

2. Bases in the SRA will become supply sources. Auto convoy will not use them since they run from Osaka to target bases. So you need to set up CS routes yourself.

Supply source bases include but are not limited to
Saigon, Singapore, Palembang, Hong Kong each of these bases should have ships moved there and assigned to supply duty. Often 1x3.5k AK with ASW escort of 1 or 2 PG/PC/MSW is enough to maintain supply at a target base. Much of the supply Japan requires will come from SRA bases.

Bases supplied by SRA should not be assigned auto convoy target status. Auto convoy status is best for bases like Manila, Truk, Saipan and from here you send supply your self. Don't overload the auto system.
