Allied Ship Class Data Spreadsheet

Post by DesRon23 »

I made a spreadsheet with all the allied ship class and upgrade data (details below).

You can get it a Spooky's WitP Site

Allied Ship Class Data Version 1.0

Excel 2000 Spreadsheet

The spreadsheet contains a comprehensive list of all Allied Ship Classes in the database, (including ships not actually in the game). I made the sheet as a quick reference so that I would be able to see the capabilities of each ship class at a glance and to see what the exact effect of each upgrade would be. The spreadsheet is based on Witp v1.21 and was created for scenario 15 but should be valid for all official scenarios (1-16).

The spreadsheet includes upgrade dates and all the data for each upgrade. Included for each class (and upgrade) is: speed, maneuver, durability, endurance, fuel, cargo and a/c capacity, armor, AA value, ASW, guns, torpedo tubes and any special features (mine capacity, seaplane support).

The first sheet “ALL” contains the data for each ship and is formatted to print (22 pages). All the data on the first sheet is linked from the subsequent sheets, so if you want to change data do it on the sheets for each ship class. The other sheets are only there to store the data, but can be formatted for printing if desired.

I noticed a couple of items that I think are typographical errors in the database:
1) Ruler Class CVE has a fuel value of 31060, which should probably be 3160, otherwise these ships will be the biggest fuel hogs in the game.
2) Narwhal Class SS (1349) loses its SJ radar, but for all I know this might be historically accurate.
3) Neosho Class (1481) is missing its class name.

Any other errors in my spreadsheet are probably mistakes I made, please drop me an email if you spot any. DesRon23@cox.net

I am an Allied Fanboy, so I probably won’t get around to making a similar spreadsheet for the Japanese until I get around to playing as the Japanese. Which could be a long time.

Lex lost AA in UV also. Never did hear a good reason for this one.

Anyone know the answer to that?

Interesting.

Also, nothing seems to be upgraded on the 4/42 upgrade for allied subs.

er... unless they were rare 8in DPs we all missed [:'(] how would removing them lower AA? Not my field but pre4sumably removed tp make room for somethuing else? Like more AA?

Several ship classes actually lose AAA during upgrades. I forget which off the top of my head. But it mostly happens when masses of 20mm AA guns are switched to 40mm AA, which results is a (usually slight) AAA reduction.

This means there are some classes you might not want to be in a hurry to upgrade, for example: the 6/42 Neosho Class AO has an AA value of 300, but the 6/43 upgrade drops this to 250, with no significant change in other sysytems.

I noticed the decline in value as well with a few ships. The Lex got a huge boost in the interim with the massive increase of 1.1"s after having the 8" guns dropped. I think this accounts for the reduction when presumably she would lose many 1.1"s infavour of 4 twin 5" turrets like Sara got. I also believe that the .50 cals are maybe overated a little. USN Subs generally lose two .50cals in favour of a twenty mil oerlikon, so value drops. Don't think this should be happening.

Don't forget that AA has a ceiling and a range in addition to its effect. The power of all those 50s and 20s is largely an illusion, as these weapons were largely only able to shoot at VB and VT that happened to come within range, having alredy expended their ordnance. Sort of an act of revenge....
