will we see bin soon???

Battles In Normandy is the third game in the Decisive Battles game series. Battles in Normandy recreates all aspects of the Normandy campaign, from the landings on the first day to the final climax of the campaign at Falaise. Strategic Studies Group rewrote the Decisive Battles game engine for Battles in Normandy with a host of new special rules for amphibious and airborne operations, plus a huge number of other enhancements.

But has SSG even signed off on the game yet? I would think it would take a while even after this happens, as Matrix has to do its own QA.

You would think with things so late in the game they would have a date by now. Looking through the posts the last semi official word was before September.

Hey guys! Yeah, I want to see this game too, but I understand them not committing to a date till its done. I do software product mangement (not games, and in no way associated with SSG or Matrix), so I know how these last days before a release go. They are probably either at the point where they are testing, finding single issues that need to be fixed, then retesting. The problem with that is that you don't quite know when that's going to be done. Its not until you run the next test do you know if everything's right or if it needs a little more work. So you think you'll be done Wednesday, but instead it ends up next week as you find a couple more little things. That makes it really hard to tell people a firm date.

Also, you hit a point where you are dealing with outside vendors for things like printing boxes, manuals, CD inserts, making CDs etc. All of that has to come together, and most of its out of a product managers control. So sometimes you get just one of those a few days late and it delays everything. Again, in the big picture it isn't a big deal, but it makes it very hard to give someone a date.

So, yes, I'm drooling over the prospects of getting this game, and I'm coming out here regularly with my credit card close at hand just hoping to find it announced and done. But I'm not surprised they aren't giving an exact date yet just because its probably very hard to pin down and exact date right now.

Actually, I don't think manuals and boxes are going to be a problem with this game. For direct download thay are probably just testing the installers and the total package.

Pay close attention to what Rob says. We are really close to getting the game. That's why most of us are hanging around chomping at the bit.

They just want to surprise us. I just want to return the surprise factor but giving the $50 really fast [:'(]

I was watching Matrix and WITP, even though I didn't buy it. Don't know why, but it took Matrix and DR about a week to get the download setup after the game was available (box and CD) at Origins.

Note the above comments about drool and keeping a credit card nearby. :)

For PBEM, I've already entered Twinkle's tourney. Sounds like a good way to lose a game early on! :) :) :)

witp and BIN are very diferent, and the whole going to Origins was what appeared an all hands drill, so hopefully the going to gold/release at dr will be quick, a day or two.. maybe Matrix SSG wont even release a seperate Gold notice, it will be" ok here you go" no worries as this game looks great.... Somebody mentioned the ai being actually hard.. can you believe that?

Anyway I am looking for a pbem, I am panzmatt at R5, that will be interested in multi-turns per day for the first few days.... ladder or no, doesn't matter....
pm me if interested

Do you know if there will be a link from one camaign to the other. Carring over less units if you were less than successful etc?

I don't suppose so, but it would be nice...

Whilst you are all waiting for BIN to be released, I am just in the process of uploading Version 2 of the Operation Husky Scenario for KP. Version 2 sees a revised 'Road to Palermo' scenario which is balanced perfectly between Brubaker and myself.. and I must thank Brubaker for the hard work and design he did on that one. This upgrade also includes the Full Husky Campaign - which I know people have been waiting on.

Whilst the campaign at this stage is only available as PBEM mode - (sorry no AI included.. I just dont have the time at the moment.. if anyone else wants to work on it.. feel free.. ) its a pretty interesting and fun campaign between two humans.

The So if you own KP, head over to the SSG site and select the Custom Scenarios Link to download it.

A hard ia, plus modifyiers will add to this game, I know that there are time we wait for or pbem oponents turn[:D] Hey Rob, wheres my turn[:D]
Actually the ai was pretty easy to beat in Korsun, so this is GREAT news, but a pbem oponent if always fun, too bad I seem to lose so often.
