What happened to the Storch? Is aerial observation still implemented, and if so, how do I go about it?

Thanks,
Christopher

Hello, I believe we did away with this, as it was figured to give the player a too unrealistic view of a battlefield, both for the level of unit, and for an already too well informed Commander!;-) The computer did not know how to use them either, they would mostly sit there. We were experimenting with having a routine for spotters along the lines of gliders, plotting a target hex, the spotter would do a fly-over and use a weapon named 'camera', this did not pan out satisfactory either. The use of scout teams is the better way to go, and more realistic, if moved slowly enough, you can really infiltrate deeply, and NOT draw fire!! Hope this explains enough,

Mike,

Thanks. Well, I always enjoyed it, and it only seemed to live a short while - providing just enought info to be dangerous.

But, I see your point.

Well said, Warhorse. Yes, Xopher, it was too much battlefield intel and took away from the fog of war.

We also tried to eliminate for the most part the attacking aircraft from pointing out all the enemy hiding place.

It was quite a pilot who could attack, undergo enemy AA fire and report the location of 50+ enemy units Image .

Hope you enjoy the game!
