How do i distinguish idle units?

Post by vils »

I need to transfer aviation E and base E units to Midway to boost the expansion there early in the war, so i would like to ask, how do i see idle units not unsed in ports as vital units?

I accidently loeaded units from SF and that really messed SF up and it took a while to restore the order.

Or more clearly: How do i see reinforcements and why isnt i getting any message when new units arrive?

I also think its kinda idiotic not to be able to form TF's within the ship-views, it just adds alot of extra clicking.

AFAIK there isn't any way to tell idle units from the main map screen [&:], I tend to spend 5 mins a turn base clicking to find new stuff. I just found a eng unit for southeast fleet in manchuria today[:D], and its mid may 42 [:)]. God knows how long thats been there for ..[:'(]

It would be a nice addition to have a new units arrived this turn screen, or a way to filter the groun unit list showing if a unit is in the wrong hq zone .. i.e highlight 4th fleet units in china.

good luck with the game though .. I'm loving it , warts n all [:D]
sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

I don't recall if there's a toggle or not in one of the preferences screens, but I always get a message for every new unit that arrives - I just jot down what and where on a pad when it happens...

At the end ( well almost the end) of the action/computer turn it says if you got a new unit, it even says what base/port they arrived at. As to seeing them before they arrive, go to Intelligence screen, click on ground reinforcements and it lists all arriving units and how many days before they arrive and what port/base they arrive in.

Dont trust the listed carry capacity as it is generally wrong. I mean on the arrival screen.
Favoritism is alive and well here.

Bring up your List all bases (B key) screen.

Sort it by "av support required"

The "av support" right to the left should show you places that have too much.

From there it is simply a click on the base to be there checking the units.
