Fix to AI carrier landings?

Would putting in some sort of a funnel that the AI pilots have to follow to land work? This would be for AI pilots only.

As the AI pilot appraches the landing deck it finds 8(+/-) "waypoints" in a circle. It picks one (closest one probibly) and flys to it. Then there are four waypoints(circle), again picking one. Finally there is one (or a string) of waypoints setting up the final cruise into the landing bay.

The points would be defined in the ship dat file.

That's more or less how it works now, although I believe you are proposing a finer-grained path to the docking bay than the game is currently using. It might work a little better than the game does today, but not enough to matter.

The fix that I have implemented is rather more heavy-handed, but ultimately more reliable than that. I finally gave up and decided to just cheat.
