Japan surrenders.

A nice quick glance can be found at the BBC website:

Good reading about the end of Japan is:

Imperial Field Service Code (senjinkun):
"Remember always the good reputation of your family and the opinion of people of your birthplace. Do not shame yourself by being taken prisoner alive; die so as to not leave behind a soiled name."

Link: Japanese Instrument of Surrender

Now, ID the units on this pic (plane types, ships)

A little help: the big ship is the USS Missouri [8|]
Solution is on the following page when you click the thumbnail on the page above.

Then we have a link to the actual documents:
Link: Instrument of Surrender and Link: Signature Page (so the allied Fanboys can train to sign as C.E. Nimitz for when they win a PBEM [:'(])

I was a little surprised MacArthur was rated so low by the WitP designers.

He was a pompous ass to be sure...and low points might be the failed counter march against Buna, or his underestimation of Chinese intentions in the Korean war. But Inchon was certainly a daring masterstroke, and his enlightened administration of postwar Japan should be taken into account.
