Launched a dozen of first historical turns while doing IJN production tests this week-end, with head to head (giving no orders at all to Allied is fater than let the computer giving somes). All games end with at least one BB sunk in PH, 2 or 3 with 2 and one with 3.

On a side note, one PH attack (that sink 1 BB, damaged heavily (SYS 50-75) 5 others and hit around 5 other ships badly, also destroyed 150+ planes, only costs the KB 14 planes : 4 Zeroes, 6 Vals, 4 Kates, difficulty historical). Usual losses are between 20 and 35.

I tried with historical off and surprise off. I moved VMF 211 to Johnson, and the Central Pacific PBY squadrons were spread out to Lahaina, Hilo, Johnston, and Midway. I send out one transport TF to Johnston and set up a few ASW TFs and send them out to play. I usually have one BB sunk with plenty of other damage. I try to think that with the warnings historically some dispersal occured and a slightly higher alert status was given instead of imcompetent leadership.

I tried a few times and only sunk 3 BBs so I changed the plan. The logic behind the US Plan Orange was that the war would start with a strike in PI so I tried this. I put all my CVs into a strike on Manila. The result was 15-16 subs sunk as well as a lot of AKs. Several more ships were victims during the next week as they tried to get to PI.

Many people have described this plan as "Gamey" but this was what the US thought would happen. I would rather deal with BBs in 6 months in exchange for knocking those pesky subs out of action for the first few months. When you calculate how many points worth of AK/TK the subs are going to sink it works out the same as sinking 3-4 BBs.

I am trying against the AI. Non-historical, what I think that Kimmel's most likely reaction would be to the missing warning, cap alerted to 50% at Pearl, 100% in overseas bases. I didn't think that he would sortie the fleet without knowing if the Japs would there to recive his attack. I lost a DD and a AK. All of the Battleships took substantial dame, but, none sunk. Singapore & Bataan still hold out. I plan on forming a line on the Irrawandi with the forces in India, and trying to take Hanoi with the Chinese. Transferring the Dutch to one good base. And holding on for dear life!!!
