Raids against Saipan, Guam, Tinian, Rabaul and Gasmata by USN.
IJN TF is hit near Saipan, 1 DE and 1 AP sunk.
Japanese are eliminated in Truk and Rangoon !!!

1/16/1944

Invasion of Kavieng, SoPac starts Operation "Mop Up I"
Bangkok is captured !!
IJN carriers hit Singapore with force..they are repulsed and LBA hits 2 IJN CVs badly.
Over 300 IJN planes are reported shot down..."Great Turkey Shot over Singapore" !!!
Air losses are staggering 897-177 for Allied.

1/23/1944

British carriers are upgraded with F6Fs, CV Illustrious reinforces Eastern Fleet.
Kavieng is proving to be tough nut to crack...
SoPac HQ moves closer to action, to Bougainville.
IJN gets into carrier battle with British, all British carriers are hit, none badly.
Counterstrike shows the crappy quality of British torpedo bombers again...no hits scored...and they fly TBM Avengers...
LBA gets couple of hits on IJN..but nothing decisive.
Kavieng is finally captured.

1/30/1944

Mitscher raids Saipan.
Land combat in Singora and Bangkok.
Damaged IJN CV is hit by Allied submarine and sinks between Formosa and Philippine Islands !!!

Operation "Mop Up II" continues, CentPac hits Nauru I. with 4th Mar Div...and captures it.

Brit CVs raid Miri.
CV Formidable reinforces Eastern Fleet.
Jaluit I. is invaded and captured !!!
Rabaul is invaded by 3 US Army divisions and is captured !!!
IJN CVE is heavily damaged by submarine torpedoes and is sunk !!

2/20/1944

British CV TF consist now of CV Indomidable, CV Formidable, CV Illustrious, CV Victorious

and CVL Hermes.
Wotje I. is invaded, captured and Japanese there eliminated !!!
1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Mar Divisions seem to lose experience with every victorious

invasion...go figure...
Operations "Mop Up I and II" continue.
IJA starts offensive in China, AVG base in Changsha is overrun, AVG wiped out !!
Subs hit another IJN CVE, but it doesn't sink.

2/27/1944

27th, 32nd and 37th ID march from Rabaul to Gasmata and capture it !!!
CV Yorktown is down to 16 dam and will join the battle soon.
All CVEs with planes are sent to Eniwetok I. to make up secondary carrier groups..several of

them are equipped with inferior FM2 Wildcats, so no front-line use.
Cape Cloucester is invaded and captured !!!

Singora is captured !!!
British CVs raid Kuching, catching IJN CVE and couple of DDs..very nice sinkings indeed.

Another CV raid on Kuching, 4 DDs and AO sunk.

CV raid on Palembang.
Japanese in Gasmata are eliminated !!

Brit CVs raid Saigon.
Tarawa is invaded..by bigger and bigger..and less and less experienced 4th Mar Div...atoll is captured and Japanese eliminated !!!

CVs/CVLs/CVEs massed in Eniwetok I.
Marine divisions are deployed in Truk.
Operations "Mop Up I and II" are now complete !!
SWPac Operation "Low Blow"...conquest of rest of Papua-New Guinea starts.
CVE TFs formed to support that operation.

Australian troops land on Tenimfar and capture it !!!
Brit CV raid on Palembang.
Subs sink IJN CA and DD.

4/17/1944

Brit CV and BB raids on Saigon.
USN has 4 CV and 2 CVE TFs now.
Woleai I. is invaded and captured !!!

Situation static, both sides refitting.

IJA has annoying ability to bounce back from Phnom Penh to Bangkok during same turn every time they are forced to retreat. Feels like playing ping pong with INA division (I guess that's Indian National Army or something).
Subs sink IJN CL.
AP TF refuses to land troops on Biak 3rd time in row...TF commander is courmartialled and TF is reformed under 7th Fleet.

5/8/1944

Another attempt to capture Biak is successful !!! SACPAC thinks the problem was former TFs attachment to West Coast restricted Army HQ.
Finally, IJA is eliminated in Singora !!!
Operation "Stiff Upper Lip" is started, including capture of Saigon and Palembang in future.

(the battles you see on various islands are bar fights between RN and British Army...I transferred those bases under Eastern Fleet command, and ground-pounders seem to rebel [&:] [:D].

3rd Mar Div lands on Ulithi and captures it !!!
Noemfar is invaded and captured !!!

Suichuan gets 2 B-29 groups, P-61 Black Widow group and group of P-38J. B-29s are set to night operations. SACPAC thinks that P-61s don't escort at night...at least it doesn't seem to happen..so they are used as day fighters.
"Slight" cock-up with TFs near Guam...2 Sufrace Combat TFs bombarding don't get air cover from CV TFs, getting several Japanese air attacks instead..but finally carriers arrive. Only minor damages, and mostly to SACPAC's ego...
Saigon is invaded by British landing...and experienced British units capture it !!!

Manokwari is invaded and captured !!!
Usual "ping-pong" between Phnom Penh and Rangoon continues.

Sorong is invaded by US units marching from Manokwari, and it's captured !!!
Palembag is amphibiously invaded, but tenacious Japanese defenders prevent it to fall..yet...

Strategic air campaing against mainland Japan has started with multiple B-29 groups in China, hitting cities during nights...named as Operation "Black Rain"...firebombing campaign.
Ambon I. is invaded and captured !!!
US CVs intercept IJN TF near Saipan, sinking AV and AP !!

Reinforcements are landed to Palembang.
US carriers sink CL and AP near Guam !!

Phnom Penh is finally invaded. Trick to prevent IJA to bounce back during same week when it's forced to retreat seems to be to bomb the depot of the base they retreat to.
Palau is finally captured by effort of 7 US divisions !!!

8/7/1944

Tinian is invaded, but it doesn't fall...frantic air battles between Japanese LBA and US carriers rage around the area.
US carriers sink 3 APs near Saipan.
Japanese in Phnom Penh are eliminated !!
