Coreal Sea - Strategies ?

Post by Peter Fisla »

I like this little scenario, not long not that many assets to manage. I think this is an excellent way to get introduced to WitP. I have played it a few times as allies and most of the times I got draw with the AI (Historical Level); once the AI got marginal victory. I can't seems to be able to get victory for the allies. I tried putting as many resources into Port Moresby and use my carrier TF as back up but all I can do is a draw. I tried taking Tulagi base with Infantry divison but it takes forever to load them up on AK/AP ship and then doing a landing in Tulagi. I can't seems to be able to take over the base. The Japs have a lot of power; their carriers can reach out much further than my carriers and they also have a base with zeros and long range bombers so I can't drive around too much with my carrier TF [:D].

Also, anyone played as allies the first scenario and won ? All I could do was a draw: AI (Jap) 8300 Points/ Me 8500 points. In this scenario it seems to me the allies are pretty much on the defensive. I have no dive bombers and most of my fighters don't stand a chance against the zeros; except maybe P-40Es. I was able to hold out with few bases in the Philipines...All I tried to do was slow down the Japanese AI [:)]

I'm having lot's of fun...no question about it. I'm going soon for the next scenario; I'm thinking doing all the scenarios first before doing the grand campaign.
