And just when I thought Christmas was great to the IJN, the day after brough even more presents... Lots of presents...

Well since everyone is waiting to hear about the CVs I will of course save that for last [:'(] Just kidding...

This time I moved my CVs on the SW side of the islands and set it to react at range 6.. Rob moved his damaged CVs a few hexes South & West, but not enough.. My CVs reacted and moved within three hexes of what I latered found out to be an abandoned Enterprise... In the search phase an Val hit the Lexington with a bomb, but better yet located her for me... So now I had two enemy CVs in two separate TFs... One was 3 hexes away, the other was four... Both within torp range.. Now if the AI will launch appropriate attacks...

My first wave was impressive and finished off the Enterprise who was a sitting duck all by herself... Then the second wave launched and I was mad... They launched against the Enterprise again.. They went there and could not locate target either, the Enterprise was already beneath the waves - a waste of planes...

In the PM phase, my CVs launched an attack against the Lexington with fighters - but they weren't needed.. the Lady Lex had no CAP, so I'm thinking she was too damaged to conduct flight ops... or maybe that lucky bomb hit earlier caused enough fire to stop ops... Either way, she was a duck as well.. A slightly better defended duck with some AA, but still a duck.. I hit her with a couple bombs and 5 torps... She was dead and sunk quickly, my other planes not able to locate her...

As for the fate of the Saratoga (SW of Hawaii) she got lucky in the morning phase, as poor weather prevented my CVs from launching against her, but luck was not with her throughout the day as she succumbed to previous damage and slipped beneath the waves - or Rob scuttled her - not sure... Either way she is on the sunk ships list... So the US CVs are history now.. all at the bottom of the pacific, along with 4 of her BBs at PH...

Elsewhere an allied AK and AP sunk from either scuttling or previous damage and I lost nothing.... I can't believe it... Several ships were hit including a MSW by those damn Do-24k search planes - I figured it would sink, but it didn't...

My invasion of Rabaul is going ok... The landings went well, but I didn't count on the air groups from the CVs being there and the SBDs heavily damaged a DD and a CA.. The DD will probably sink whereas the CA should survive...

On the ground the japanese troops are doing it as well... Samarinda and Kuching in Borneo both fell to my troops.. Tomini (suluwesi) was unoccupied as I invaded... I also captured 2 more islands in the philippines : San Jose and Tawi Tawi, both unopposed.. I also took Sansapor in PNG via sub assault...

The highlight of the turn wasn't the sinking of Rob's CVs, but the glorious surface battle just outside Tokyo harbor... YEP... The SS Tuna surfaced to engage the IJN Victoria Maru, but was surprised when the IJN AP opened fire first... The AP proceeded to land several hits with its main gun as well as work over the sub with AA guns.. The sub responded with a couple hits from its gun before it fled... To be honest I have always bitched to myself why merchies don't shoot back at subs on the surface and look what happens... My AP beat the hell out of the US Sub... Probably no real damage, but still makes me feel good that my AP not only fired back hurting the sub, but drove it off by itself... Makes you feel proud of your merchies... On the other hand, that skipper may just find himself in command of an ASW DD in a day or two...

Well not much more to say, although I will be posting some score updates and ship sunk updates probably later tonight...

TO ALL ALLIED FANBOYS... BEWARE, the IJN RULES THE SEAS AND WILL BE COMING FOR YOU...

Thats the price you have to pay if you are too aggressive in 1941 or early 1942 as allied pplayer.
makes me wonder why ppl sent in CV's to Truk in 1941 and not knowing where the enemy KB is....[8|]

continue this AAR, it will be funny to read through 1942 [:D]

:) It will go on. The game just got balanced is all [:D]

I just love the american will to fight on [:)] hehe

good one !

A fairly slow day in the war as my CVs TFs retreat back to large bases for fuel, ammo and new planes / pilots... My air stikes in Burma find some more allied shipping but fail to even lie about scoring hits.. But one of my subs near Akyab puts 2 torps into an AK, but it looks like she made it into port.. But hoprefull she'll still sink..

Another one of my subs reported putting a torp into a CL near Johnson Island.

In other locations my ASW efforts score some hits.. No reported sinkings, but 1 hit on a sub, and another enemy sub took 2 hits - so if they don't sink, maybe they will at least go away for repairs for a while - which is almost as good as sinking it to me.

In a surface battle in the PIs, a mixed TF of aux ships of mine reacted and fired upon a 3 PT boat fleet.. One PT took the brunt of the assault and sunk, while the other 2 fled.

In china, my bombers continue to score resource hits at Kunming, bringing the total of resource damage to about 10 now.. Since I don't I will ever capture Kunming, I have decided to bomb it flat to prevent resources / supplies getting to the chinese...

All in all a slow turn.. I lost a PG from previous damage and if I'm right it was a PG involved in the turn 1 Wake I invasion which has been sitting at Marcus Island trying to control the massive flooding damage - apparently without success...

My ground forces invaded and captured Sinkep Island just south of Singapore.. A squadron of Hawk aircraft were destroyed on the ground by defenders before my men could capture them - 7 burned remains of these planes were pushed from the airfield in preparation to base planes at this location. Over 2100 allied troops surrendered to my troops and are now on their way to Bangkok to work on the new railroads being built (if only we could [:D] ).

At both Johore Bharu and Rabaul the last fortifications were destroyed and both bases should fall within a day or two - about time... I need Johore to march on Singapore and I need Rabaul to lend air support to the invasion of the Solomon Islands.... And to bomb Port Moresby..

Also in china... a Chinese subunit has made its way all the way to my base at Tabun-Nur. Luckily I had some armor regiments nearby who were able to catch the chinese unit before it entered the undefended base and captured it. It made a shock attack just as my armor moved into fortified positions and the chinese took heavy losses whereas my tanks took none..

The Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Navy has directed me the CINCPAC to take all measures for our defense.

Make no mistake about it, I intend to put our naval forces in harm's way. We will seek out the enemy and kill him where ever we find him. I will never waste the life of a sailor or marine under my command. When you are at sea and in the field, know that your commander will always support you to fullest capacity in your endeavors to destroy our enemy. Always will we remember the character of the onslaught against us. No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people, expects her military to win and I promise you America will not be dissappointed. I believe I interpret the will of the American people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost but will make very certain that this form of treachery by the Xargunites shall never endanger us again. The Xargunites will be defeated, for them, the war begins today. It is not enough to tell America that we are doing our best in these dark hours, VICTORY is our only option!

Well an average turn in the war with the Japanese ground units capturing several key bases. First in Borneo I captured Tarakan 100% intact. In Malaya I finally captured Johore Bharu, which is the doorstep to Singapore. The funny thing about this base capture is that I lost some airplanes on the ground when I captured the base... Somehow there were 8 L1N1 Thoras at the allied base that were destroyed when I captured it.. I am not sure what these japanese planes were doing there - but I believe they were flown there by traitors to the empire.. We will track them down... and their families...
My army also captured Rabaul after a bloody air strike from nearby IJN CVs... SNL forces also captured the nearby base of Kavieng, securing the northern flank to Rabaul.

Several bombardments were also undertake in china, as well as a variety of air raids killing more chinese troops.

On the sea, a single IJN ship fell prey to an allied sub. It caught a torpedo and broke in half, quickly sinking.. An allied AK and ML was reported sunk by mysterious means (either previous damage or Rob scuttled them). Also combat reports indicate an allied AK and PT were sunk by IJN forces.

Also, my subs near PH report an allied CV heading for PH... I can't figure out where the allies got a fourth CV this quick so I think I will just have the intel people shot for their stupidity... Other than that not much has happened...

Enjoy..

Another turn... more ships sunk... This turn I lost 2 ships from previous damage - they finally succumbed to the floatation damage as I couldn't get them to large enough ports fast enough. I lost a TK and a DD... The allied lost an AK..

In a minor surface battle I sunk what seems to be the last allied PT in the Philippines.. Doesn't mean he can't make more, but I think it would be pointless to do so. They haven't disrupted any invasions or landed any critical hits on my ships. They have only been target practice for my warships and fighters.

In a surprise move, an IJN sub claims to have hit and sunk an RN DD off the coast of Batavia. The IJN ship was on patrol looking for the RN battlewagons - which unfortunately I have lost track of. I don't think Rob will bring them into the DEI as my Betties / Nells have the water covered pretty good and I would gladly exchange some merchies for the POW and Repulse - plus their hangerson.. I have a feeling those warships are somewhere near OZ drawing another line in the sand ... waiting for me to cross it.

On the ground my troops capture 4 new bases, 2 of importance for future ops.. I captures Makale (Suluwesi) and Sarmi (PNG), as well as Jambi (Sumatra - just north of Palembang) and Moulmein (Burma). I have troops and aircraft racing to Moulmein so I can continue my pressure on the brits to the north. I have a feeling the port at Akyab is being expanded as fast as Rob can to bring in troops and supplies from India via the sea. So I need to counter this with bombers at Tavoy and Moulmein - at least until I take Rangoon...

Rob brought the AVG out to play in the skies over china. They appeared over the resource mines in Kunming and intercepted my unescorted bombers.. They claimed a couple kills, but I still damaged the resources there. I will have to bring in some zeros, as I believe Kunming is to far for Nates.... Now I just have to find some zeros not doing anything...

An allied sub has it first chance at an IJN CV, but couldn't get off a shot due to heavy escort. The sub escaped undamaged as the CV sailed right past...

My CV-based Vals bombed the hell out of Gasmata airfield, only to discover any planes based there had already been moved [&:] Oh well.. better safe than sorry.

Here ya go..

Could you perhaps post the sunk ship list ?

Would be very intersting to compare ship losses to other AAR's [X(]

Better taking no shot, then shooting at a worthless DD...

You want the actual ships sunk ? Or just a total of how many of each classification ? If thats all you want, I posted one a few turns back..

Another fairly slow turn as I consolidate my naval, air and ground forces for renewed assaults. Actually my ground forces are pretty much all tied up except for some majorly understrength Naval Guard units that I don't want to commit to the war at 30% strength. They need time to fill out.

2 allied ships are reported sunk: AK and a DD. Either previous damage or scuttling...

In sad news, the SS Nautilus surfaces just outside Sasebo harbor and uses torpedoes and her surface gun to pound and sink an IJN AK. The AK did not return fire and quickly sank as the sub submerged and sailed away... Ships from Sasebo port were unable to respond in time to save most of the crew or attack the sub...

In retaliation, my ASW forces located a dutch sub near the port of Cagayan and pounded on it twice, finally sinking it near dusk.

Very little ground combat took place as IJA forces took a day of rest - although troops on Luzon attacked and captured the allied base at San Marcelino, leaving the allies 3 bases left on the main island. Japanese forces are simply waiting for a few stragglers and some extra supply to pile up before beginning the assault on Clark Field... Which is estimated to take 2 weeks to capture the base - after heavy artillery and air bombardment..

IJA airgroups in china continue to pound away at spotted chinese units, wounding and killing more every day. Air strikes against the resources in Kunming have been temporarily suspended to allow the air crews some rest and in an attempt to locate some fighters that aren't really needed anywhere else... Good luck in this one, most of my zero fighter groups are in areas of need covering important bases against allied bombers - mostly oil sites in Borneo... I am saving up some PPs to buy out some Nate groups from Kwangtung as they are being wasted there. These will replace my zeros at less important bases to free them up for front line duty in places like Rabaul, Balikpapan, Moulmein and soon to be captured Singapore.

Enjoy the AAR.
