Gun penetration values...

Post by Tankerace »

I have a question. In the Editor manual, it says that the penetration is equivelant to the maximum thickness of armor a gun can penetrate in milimeters. In the stock OOB, for a US 14" Mk 7 or Mk 8 gun, this is listed at 700. So a 14" gun can penetrate over 27 inches of armor plate? Or does this assume at point blank, and naturally decrease as the range extends?

An 8"/55 gun (in the stock OOB) can penetrate 275mms, or just over 10 inches. That sounds a lot more believeable.

A 12"/50 gun can penetrate 500 mm, which is 19.6 inches. Are these values correct? I'm just trying to figure out how the OOB interprets these values, as I am trying to get all the gun data entered for the WPO mod.

Thanks for any comments.

Yes, the values in the editor represent maximum penetration at (approx) point blank range. The value is adjusted downward as ranges open up.

Ok. That was what I thought, but I wanted to make sure. Didn't want to code it so that a shell would just pass through a battlecruiser, going in one side and out the other. LOL.
