MacArthur Commanding TWO HQs

Post by Dereck »

Is this a bug or is this valid:

I have GEN D. MacArthur as the commanding officer of TWO Headquarters -
Southwest Pacific HQ located in Brisbane and
USAFFE HQ located in Manilla

Is this valid for him to be in command of those two HQs at the same time? If this is NOT a bug then do I simply remove MacArthur as CO of USAFFE?

Thanks.

I believe it's done that way so you don't have to evacuate him on a PT before Manila falls.

When I look at the SETTINGS.INI file it says "CurrentVersion=1.4" so I'm assuming that is the version of the game I have.

I did just buy and download it last week.

dereck
the version number shows on the main WITP game screen, under "Main Menu Screen" banner.

The settings.ini file should be a very old one (2002).

Why is this bumped? They already explained it. It was done so that Dugout Dug isn't lost when the Philippinnes falls.

Because some other people in The War Room forum were asking this same question and I bumped it so they could read it so they could get the same answer I did.

I always thought it was a crock of you-know-what that MacArthur was handed the Medal of Honor after leaving Corregidor yet he refused to second the nomination for Wainright who, in my opinion deserved it more than MacArthur.

America just needed a "hero" so they gave the Medal of Honor to Dugout Doug instead of someone who really deserved it.

I can understand why Mac was given the MOH, but I felt that Wainwright should have been given one. Especially considering he held out as long as he did.

I also thought it was a crock that MacArthur - who had a Magic machine to decipher Japanese codes and had TWELVE hours to prepare after Pearl Harbor was attacked still allowed his bases to be attacked and let his planes be destroyed on the ground and was never called on the carpet about it.

Yet, General Short and Admiral Kimmel who didn't have a Magic machine and had to rely on what Washington sent them -- which wasn't near what should have been sent to them -- were relieved of their commands and made out to be scapegoats.
