idea for game release

Post by Wayllander »

Offer an early download version (when game goes gold) for people who choose to purchase directly from matrix. (Since direct sales offer greater profits this benefits both the consumer and company)

As an alternate, offer a late stage beta for people to download who purchase the game directly.

Currently there is little benefit for a consumer to purchase directly because because of some of the following: (pay a higher price as companies like eb tend to discount, don't get hard copy manuals, incur shipping charges, etc).

Perhaps there are legal issues with the publisher that prevent incentives to be offered, but I would think the developers would want as many direct purchases as possible.

(An example is how Paradox handled their latest game: crusader kings?, which was available via download months ago but is being released here in the us very soon.)
