Most beautiful IJN ship?

Post by guke »

In your opinion, what ist the most beautiful IJN ship?

My vote goes to the Mogami CA class. (obviously the
1943 conversion of Mogami herself was an aberration)

For elegance of lines, the Yamato's are hard to beat. The CA's, with that "out of place" fifth
turret that can't fire forward just don't quite "look right".

Beauty being relative, I always thought the fuso's looked cool because of the pagoda-style masts. Altho any of the PH carriers in flames looks good to me too.

They all look good sitting on the bottem. That soft watery distortion and the slow creap of sea life growing on them is my favorite. The rearranging of the superstructure and hull courtesy of the 1000#lb bombs and various torpedoes of the USN. [:D]

How about Zuikaku/Shokaku? The most handsome carriers for sure, right?

Yeah, I got to give an amen to that.

Or should that be, "Tenno Banzai!"?

Hi, This thread shouuld have been one post and then just a lot of "your rights" following. Guke knows what he is talking about. (But truthfully I agree the Yamato class BB are among the most beautiful ships ever built)

shokaku and zuikaku are indeed both very good looking carriers, but I prefer the Shinano, though it was pretty useless during the war.
